| Post subject: Moving to Shanghai |
Hello,
I have received an offer to work in Shanghai and am moving the 1st week of January. After a lot of research, I cannot figure out which district the TianHong building is in. I have heard a lot of good things about the Xujiahui area (for expats) but want to live within walking or short taxi distance from the office. Could someone please lend some thoughts?

First:
Welcome to a fellow Minnesotan!
It is about 5kms from Xujiahui to Xianxia Lu.
The Building address in Chinese is:
仙霞路80号
It is west out towards Hongqiao.
Look on the map on the attached link:
http://www.smartshanghai.com/maps/smsh_map.php
Follow yanan Xi Lu west until it crosses......
There are also some nice expat areas out there.....and a relo company called SanteFe in the same building you work in...
Good Luck, Good Hunting....and welcome to Shanghai! |

It's probably located in Gubei District which is a 20 minute taxi ride from Xujiahui. Xianxia Lu runs from Gubei District to the outskirts of Hongqiao District. Very fashionable and high profile residents; lots of Japanese, Taiwainese, Koreans and some Americans. If housing allowance not a problem, then good place to live and work. Consider yourself fortunate.Mnay shopping places nearby and foreigner friendly. |

Yes, it is located on Xian Xia Rd in Hong Qiao. The immediate area has a few apartment blocks like Yanlord Riviera and Consul Garden. You could also check out the new apartments in the Gubei Phase 2 area. Places like Gubei Rich Garden and Gubie Palace are wortwhile. The only down side is it is a bit of construciton site at present. The original Gubei Phase 1 has older apartments where you can find some recently renovated delights and it is closer to e a fw esturants and cafes and the big Carrefour. It's really best to come and have a look around at all your options in the area so you can get a feel for the place and have look at different blocks so you can compare them all. Unless something is really well renovated, steer away from the older blocks in Gubei Phase 1 as you can get a new place for the same rental in the newer Gubei Phase 2.
Please have a look at our Advise on Leasing for some tips on renting here.
