Same lovely deal here. You work 9, we give you 7--enjoy. Does anybody really believe that work will get done on Saturday and Sunday?

Most peole will take vacation days those two days. Those that don't will probably just sit around and read the newspaper. Been like that for at least the last 13 years.

I realise for the newbies in the crowd this comes as a shock, but for those of us who have been around awhile, we come to expect this will happen and just grin and bear it. Yes, in order to allow domestic staff, most of whom make any and every effort to go home this one time of the year, the govt makes everyone work the weekend to allow for a longer single period of holiday days together. Awkward for us, but seems to work for them...

You and .4 billion others! Wink

Thought of going to Sanya, but difficult to get a hotel reservation unless you want to pay 200% over the normal rack rate. Flights are cheap enough -- maybe can even still get a 20% discount.

It will be Phuket for me this year. Haven't been there for a few years. Leaving Feb 2, coming back here Feb 16. Do some serious sailing and put this place out of my mind for a couple of weeks.
