| Post subject: Change in F-Visa availability for 2008? |
Anyone got any reliable information on this? I've heard tonight that there may be some serious difficulty getting the usual 6 month visa. Also heard that it may be necessary to leave China every 30 days!!!!!
So far this is hearsay, does anyone know what might be going on? |

^ Is this from the local agents here? this has been discussed before, in HK all the agencies are under strict instructions to only offer the 6 & 12month F visa's which have the 30 day stay limits on them until at least after the Olympics. Means you can only get by with a 3 month one. I'm debating now whether a move to HK might be more beneficial in the long run for the new business. |

Spoke to Magic today and he was a little hazy about it, not sidestepping the question, just saying that they are trying to work around the problem. But he didn't tell me what 'the problem' actually was in detail. I have other problems to deal with first, but I'll keep you posted regarding the F visa.
I think that a 3 month visa would be ok, as long as we don't need to re-enter China at the end of the 3 months, or every 30 days as I heard last night.
As soon as I hear more, I'll post it. |

Also tough for Filipinos, Indonesians and Africans. |

http://www.visainchina.com/ has updated their information, F Visa seem to require a lot more information and documentation to get. I am not sure about the 30 days requirement. |

My F-visa expires while I'll be in the US for a long business trip. Is it possible to get a visa of more than 3 months from the US vs. doing it here? (Slightly iffy because I hate to be stranded out there...) |

I suspect that so long as your application is legitimate, getting an F visa in the US from one of the consulates should be less an issue than from HK or within China. But best to contact your respective regional Consulate to confirm. |

In the past the opposite was true ... China consulate in SF was a total pita about F's but we all know that nothing stays the same here for more than six weeks, so ... was interesting what mswp had to say ... btw, until i saw that name wasn't aware that manufacturers had a suggested wholesale price |

^ I think they just didnt like you . Never had an issue with SF consulate but its only been... (lets see 2008-1984=24) 24 years of dealing with them so I guess its just the luck of the draw... but as you say could be an issuer next time, one never knows |

May be ! But L's were always a snack; every time I tried to do an F it turned into a paperwork blizzard. Los Angeles was simple but kind of a long trip So heck, it was easier to get an L then change it in china. |
