| Post subject: Tiger Half Yard Beer Contest |
Anyone been to this?
Have heard every Friday at certain places but the ad on the nightlife part of the site is outdated.
Buddy told me there is cash and beer to be won...
Heard about this when I was at the Bulldog... fastest half yard record now is some Canadian bloke at 3.02 seconds... |

Roughly three pints, but of course a yard is a measure of length, not volume. Each yard glass varies in capacity.
Ah, the good old days of drinking and driving.......... |

1.14 liters to a full yard...so half of that.... in this case was told that the glass is filled with two small tiger beers that are 330ml each...so that would make 660ml for this glass. I saw the glass they use at the Bulldog...all I can say is that it is not as easy as it looks... but I wanted to know if 3.02 seconds was a world record... i've never seen anyone drink like that..
record for a full yard is 5 seconds... |

What amazes me is that anyone would want to drink Tiger piss to begin with. That's about the cheapest draft bars can handle, and it tastes like it. |

The ex Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke was the world record yard glass drinker at one stage.
True. |

for 500 rmb, a half yard glass, and a case of 24 bottles of tiger beer i'd try...not a bad way to enjoy a Friday night...pays for dinner and drinks...do it at the bulldog even better 2 for 1 burgers Friday nights.... still have a few bucks to take home... but then again if that bloke from Canada shows up who holds the record not many people have a chance against him |

If the physics are similar to a beer bong, then two 330ml beers in 3 seconds is not that fast.
The acceleration due to gravity is going to be the limiting factor on whatever the world record may be. |

did some digging on the physics claim...
it is true that gravity is a factor... but that usually causes people to not be able to drink a bong. In the world of beer bongs, 3 seconds is damn fast.. ask anyone who has tried.... |

The key is to start from a squatting position and stand up. |

Yeah beerbongs do not follow the same rules as yards. I used to be a world class beer bonger (if there is such a thing) but was absolutely terrible in comparison to chugging pints. Yes I held my own in boat races, but was only slightly faster than the average boat racer. Of course in China, I have yet to meet a Chinese guy who can "gan bei" faster than me, but come on... Chinese don't drink as much in college as American rugby players do.
Mat is one hundred percent right, you can do a can of beer in under 1 second shot gun (I cannot but have seen people who can) and beer bongs are the same rule. The fastest I have ever seen a huge bong was a 15 beer 2 person bong. That could be finished in under 6 seconds, but only 1 in 20 pairs ever finished it. |

Isn't that how they choose the president in Australia? |

Well Mat, if our Pres collects a few more Peace Prizes for some potentially good thing he might do, or because there's nobody else around to give it to...you may have to rethink your demagoguery. President Rudd...nice ring to it. |
