''western style'' medical facilities like SHU ( www.unitedfamilyhospitals.com ) will be able to provide/coordinate medical care, my personal concern would be occupational therapy/special kindergarten ( in case that applies at his age ...) and parent support.
only resource i know is:
Special Education Consulting, Shanghai
(8621) 5206-6273
Info: inquiries@specialedchina.com
Web: www.specialedchina.com
good luck! |

I hear the school is good...but your company needs to foot the bill, as with all international schools here it's not something you can afford to do privately. |

I believe the school does cater for "Down's Syndrome" children so I would contact them and ask for references from parents. They would also be able to give you a realistic opinion on how local people would react to your boy. |

This is not directly useful but I'll throw it out here in case it sparks any ideas:
The Special Olympics were in Shanghai last year and there were a couple of parents/organizers posting here looking for advice. Those threads might have some more advice or contacts (try the search function). During that time, and the 2008 Olympics, there was a lot of good PR spread by the media and government about accepting and helping people with Down's, etc. |
