| Post subject: Dream SAT Questions |
Okay, I have a couple of silly questions about my Dream SAT TV.
In our house, we have 3 separate receivers/decoders and each has the little atm type card in (sorry, as you can tell I am not a techie at all and don't know the correct terminology for this stuff).
1 - is Dream SAT TV legit here in China. I thought it was only in the Philippines? If not Dream, then where do you get legit TV from?Is there such a thing?
2 - every few weeks,we lose some channels and an error message appears on a blue screen. I usually call my relo guy, who them sends the SAT man over, he does some fast & fancy input on the remote control, and hey presto, we have all the channels again- it takes him less than 5mins to do.
Why does this happen? And does anyone know what he is doing to correct the problem? Does this happen to everyone or am I just the lucky one?
The SAT man does not speak English and I can't seem to get a straight answer as to why this suddenly happens and why so often. It is really frustrating.
Any thoughts?

1 - they are not legit, since the cards you use should not need to be re-setted from time to time (they are pirate cards).
Of course there are legit packages which are extremely expensive, like every legit thing in this country....since no legit is the rule
2- normal practice with pirates card
Let me ask you, do they charge you for refind the signal? |

You have hacked boxes thats why you lose your channels. It's also why you cant watch Australia Network which carries the Super 14, and some other channels.
I can supply yuo the original Dream TV decoders. They come with a PAY card and you can see what it looks like below. If you want Dream TV and Ben Sports together with all the channels you get the orange Ben Sports card and decdoer.
email jim@bensports.tv or jim@philsatcorp.com We can deliver the decoder to your home by courier. No more frustrations with a working legit decoder.
I will be in Shekou tomorrow doing a bar install with 4 DSTV THAI decoders and one Dream TV Ben Sports decoder, and up to Shanghai later on. Drop me an email with your contact details and I will advise you whats available. Dream TV is just one of a few packages you can watch. Other packages have 115 English channels icluding 22 sports channels.
That way you can ge all LIVE and replayed games that you need.

Yeah - the problem with Mr SatelliteTV is that his option is also NOT VERY CHEAP, nor perfectly legal. No matter whether the boxes are legitimate or not - its still illegal to have the/use them in China.
But we all do this anyway - so no need to worry.
That being said, its really up to you - 99% of people in China DO NOT have a legal system.........but for that, you have to put up with some hassle. However, if you want to pay around 4,000rmb, then you can get something a bit more stable from Mr SatTV. |

Yes not as cheap as using hacked systems but at least legit systems work all the time.... AS for legal, perfectly legal if you have a permt.
Not that any expat cares about legal or not. They are all prepared to buy pirated dvd's and everything else so why not buy pirated TV?
As for being expensive... I guess you havent look at the costs of what people are paying for content back in their home countries.... usually anything from US$60 to over US$110 per month in subscription fees.
So if you dont want dishes buy an mpeg4 system, only 115 English channels and legal.. as no dish involved... costs around rmb 575 a month.
One of my bar customers in Shanghai was not fined when inspected by the police last year... no dishes lol
Other bars were fined and had dishes and receivers confiscated, some just paid fines. |

Never mind he doesn't watch those channels anyways which is why he prefers a pirate box.
Only when Dream TV turns off Nagra1 will many people buy the new decoders. Unless of course they want Australia Network, DW, and Ben Sports channels 1 & 2.

i bought my pirated system 5 years back for RMB 1200 (all inclusive). IN last five years it needed card replacement about 6 to 7 times. Each time i paid RMB 80 for the card. Most of the channels on Dream are as such useless and we watch it very very occasionally. |

Same here. Occasional background noise in a native tongue.
Talk to me about 300 varied, uncensored, interesting channels with TIVO and i might be tempted to join the obese zombie masses. Until then, im with the pirates. |

My situation's even weirder. Since last night:
The legit (Crystal) box I've got in the loungeroom has dropped dead - it doesn't even bring up a menu screen when I select AV1 from my TV.
I powered it down and restarted it and now it's not even responding to the remote. It's showing channel "0" on the display on the front of the box and playing very dead.
The pirate box in the bedroom is working as per other folks' descriptions above - some channels, but the sports channels are all gone and the channels that are there don't match the descriptions you get at the bottom of the screen when you change channel.
All I can figure re the Crystal box is that some over the air software update or something may have bricked the receiver. Is that likely?
Anyone got any ideas? |

Due to transponder's technical problem, Bensports channels, also Starsports, ESPN, Animal Planet, HBO, Cinemax, Animax and Hallmark are experiencing signal lost. The programs will be resumed as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I will update when channel comes back. |

Receiver should not be bricked... Dream TV also moving some channels on transponders... We will keep you up to date on the situation.
You can email me jim@bensports.tv or contact me on skype blackcrusader and get you sorted.
Email me your decoder and card number... not by pm |
