hi there, i have just come back from abroad to Shanghai, back in my home-country i was taking the cure of injections in my ass, but i didn't finish that, so i've brought medicine with me to Shanghai, but i have a problem ---- i can't give myslef injections, and local hospitals' doctors refuse to allow nurses to give me injections, because the medication is not chinese... is it possible to find a nurse who'd give me injections everyday? any suggestions, please? i need to do it for several months... |

I think it's possible. you can try a small clinic, there're more rules in the hospital. If you can't find someone, contact with me, maybe I can find one for you. Is there any thing special of your medication? Let me know the name of your medicine. I am a medical student of Fudan University Medical School. |

Actually, anybody can do it. Spouse, friend, neighbor.
Disinfect the site, and use disposable needles. |

Or find a nearby diabetic on insulin, they are used to giving themselves several shots each day and they can show you how to do your own or give them to you themselves. People that require several shots a day long term develop habits that make the nurses cringe so don't tell a nurse if a diabetic shows you how to take your own shoots right through your trousers, without any prep. Trousers act as a shock absorber to the plastic the needles are imbedded in so you will not be sore form multiple daily injections using this method. I use a new sterile needle for every injection and have never had an infection using this method. |

I don't have much fat on me so insulin injection sometimes goes into muscle and that is not very comfortable. Ideally insulin injection is supposed to be injected into the fat, and each injection at least 25mm away from the previous injection. |

It may be more expensive but maybe you can try some of the expat clinics like Worldlink/Parkway, Shanghai East, Shanghai United. |

Just some info for porqueti:
One important issue in your future USMLE clinical examination is whether you know your limit and medicolegal liability. You will NOT give a pass mark if the examiners believe that you are not safe to practice in the states.
In this case, you must understand that a medication approved by foreign health authorities (including FDA in USA and TGA in Australia) may NOT legally permitted in China. Similarily, a medication licenced in China may be considered as an illegal drug in the States. You may know that off lable use of medications does happen from time to time however it carries significant medicolegal risks.
I do know that you want to make friends here in order to improve communication skill. However, as a medical student who hasn't had the licence to practice medicine, you must not do something that is potentially againt the law. But any way, I hope you understand the seriousness of the issue and hope you understand what I mean here.
Cheers. |
