There is a good shop on Yan An Xi Lu right next to Huamin Plaza Building # 726 Yan An Xi Lu on the right side of the tower. |

The street vendors that are out and about at night near me in Pudong do great chow mein. That and a beer for 8rmb is a great way to finish off a night |

The best chow mein I have had was in Zhabei. On Zhong Xing road (中兴路) very close to the subway station. I was going to a placed called 西单翅酷 (xi dan chi ku) for the BT wings (BT = bian tai, or abnormally spicy). The wings sucked so I was still hungry after eating so finished it off with the street vendor chow mein. Was wonderful. |

I think Coffee said when yhou get to LA..Head south..when you get to Mexico look for any Chinese Take Out......
Personally I think Coffee is wrong.... I would head North to SF |

Thanks Sir Coffee...I just tried your Chow Mein Place...I would prefer something a little more Traditional...Maybe ithey served it mixed with fried rice, fried noodles,and lotsa of soy sauce and hot mustard.....with a side order of Ribs...

After months of looking we gave up and then found a great place for HK food, a few minutes walk from the Carrefour in Gubei. The owner or manager is from HK and speaks excellent English. Don't know the name, but the food is just like Cantonese food we know and love in UK. The mixed veg in curry sauce was marvellous.
As you leave Carrefour, cross the road and turn right. Go under the flyover (Yanan Lu) and it's on your left just after the entrance to a pink compound. |

Both Cha's HK Cafe on Sinan Lu as well as Sweet Dynasty in basement of HK New World Plaza have exactly this dish. It's a pretty standard HK / Cantonese dish most commonly with shredded think strips of pork but can be a mixture or seafood as well. |

urghhh cha's hk cafe on sinan lu is a weak excuse for a cantonese restaurant. i'm a quarter cantonese and every time someone wants to eat here, i throw up a little on the inside haha. |

Sure have, pleanty actually. There is on on HengShan Lu just out of the subway station toward WuXing Lu, past the hair cutting places and before the small park and tennis club.
The best however was under the NS just over the river going west of down town, first right after getting off the highway past the railway station exit. It was a small hole in the wall and not sure if its still there, moved to another point of town 2 years ago now.
There are tons of Cantonese restaurants, the more pricy the worse I have found, there is on on NanJing Lu in the mall next to TingAn Center, on 7th floor, and theirs is awful. |
