Bumps & Babes

Bumps & Babes is a site for pregnant women, mothers of infants and young babies filled with useful information and resources about pregnancy, baby-care and family life in Shanghai. Bumps & Babes was established in 2006 as a support group by Mary Clarke, a Shanghai expat mother, who realized there was an un-met need amongst expat women for information about pregnancy and baby-care in Shanghai. The group was received with great enthusiasm and has so far welcomed the participation of thousands of women of all nationalities.

In March 2011 Bumps & Babes grew into a full-fledged and independent portal dedicated to providing expat women in Shanghai with useful information about pregnancy and life with young kids in Shanghai. Bumps & Babes hosts monthly 'Talks' in Puxi & Pudong where guest speakers covering a wide range of relevant topics for pregnant women and mothers are invited to speak and organize events that encourage all the participants to exchange stories and develop friendships.

The Bumps & Babes portal includes an archive of most of the Bumps & Babes Talks hosted since early 2010 organized by categories; a resources section with useful information about family services available in Shanghai; "getting prepared" lists for new moms and growing babies; an experts section where parents can post their questions to a list of experts Bumps & Babes has identified and teamed up with in Shanghai; and a peer-to-peer community market --"B&B Barely Used Market"-- for the sale, rental and exchange of gently used baby equipment and toys.
