a bunny question

Postby iara » Tue Apr 28, 2009 5:41 pm

So, my american neighbour will go back home in july, but they have a lovely bunny as a pet. Someone told them they can't take a bunny out of China, is it true? She is willing to pay anything to take her with them, and it's not a problem to get her inside USA.
Anybody has any clue about this?
I can't take a bunny, and she doesn't know what to do with her if she needs to be left behind :(

thanks a lot!!

Hi Iara,
Ask your friend to call PAWS or Jia Liang Kennel in Pudong. Perhaps they will know, I have never come across this so I also am unsure of the answer. Once you know, please post it up so you can inform the rest of us. It was good to see you and your adorable son the other day!!

Cheers!!

As far as I know, only cats and dogs are allowed to be taken out of China. I have a bunny myself and I can't take her with us when we moved to Canada. She had to be left behind with my parents.

Maybe you can convince her to give the bunny away to a good family before she leaves? Since she is leaving in July, there should be plenty of time to arrange it.

I know, it is sad. :(

Really strange that one can't export "living bunnies".

(Friend (living in Germany) bought a frozen rabbit last week and guess what's the country of origin?! .... China  )

Not sure, but I can give you the vet number/name and you could ask him.
I told him that everybody was telling me that it was impossible to take a rabbit out of China, then he explain me that if he can prove that the rabbit is really a pet, living with the family like a pet, he can get the papers done. He went to my friend's house, took pics of the bunny in their laps, pics of bunny place, food, toys...
Ok, it also depends if the place you're going allows that kind of pet.
I'm not sure, but is quite difficult to enter any country with birds :(, but you could try it!

Good to hear such good outcome.

But what about exporting pigs? Somebody in this world do have pigs at home as a pet.
