A nice getaway in Shanghai for outdoor spring weather

Anybody know a good place for hiking or walking and enjoying the fine spring weather? Or anyone organizing a day trip this weekend?

Century park is quite a nice place to spend an afternoon walking around. No real hiking routes in Shanghai proper though if you make the trip up to Forest Park, you may get a bit closer to "nature". Looking into a few other ideas, all on the Pudong side of things now...maybe will get something together before summer.

After hearing promises to make Shanghai greener I guess i was being too optimistic to hope for any real open space not immediately colonized by developers wishing to squeeze commercial revenue from the newly minted 'leisure classes'... On top of that, the sun has changed his mind again and gone back inside. Probably saw the pollution and noise and decided Thailand was a better vacation spot.

Bohdi offers hikes and bike rides. I have been corresonding with them via email. I have had some friends do them before. I will test this spring (wife is healing from minor surgery). they have ones that are family friendly as well. I hope to test by end of April will let you know.

They put posts on the site all the time.

Out here in Pudong we have these wonderful creeks. The only problem is that the sidewalk along them stops at every street, sometimes continuing on the other side and sometimes skipping a block. Sometimes I dream of pathways that go right along under the bridges so I could follow my little canal all the way to the South China Sea. It would be lovely.

Post details on groups that do weekend walks.

A friend and I go to Shi Ji Gong Yuan for nature photography on Sundays. Well one Sunday so far. But we plan more. The weather haas been quite nice lately. Not like back home, but it definitely makes me feel better. All my hobbies were outdoors, so it helps to revive me.
