Accommodation with 'Clubhouse' ?

Postby Royser » Tue Jul 21, 2009 9:01 pm

Moving to Shanghai in September with my wife's job and we have been looking at accommodation in Qing Pu for the family. I noticed that a lot of the houses have 'clubhouse' facilities but they don't really expand on this. What generally is clubhouse facilities? This is all new to me so thought this would be a good place to ask!

Any answers greatly appreciated!

Thanks

edit: this is a passage from one of the property descriptions:

"Xijiao Yuan Zhong Yuan Garden is located in Xujian Town, Minghang District. It offers 73 villas of spacious luxurious villas of various styles, all with private garden and belong to each individual owners. The property occupies in total 67843sqm, with lots of green area & children playground. Newly finished modern club facilities offer its residents with ultimate conveniences and comforts."

Clubhouse usually refers to the community facilities which vary from community to community. The place I lived before has indoor swimming pool, weight room, stationary bikes (exercise room) and indoor playground for kis.I have a place near XinZhang, Minghang District. I'm not an agent. Here's the description:

New luxuriously finished huge (188 square m), 3 bedroom 3 bathroom 3 walk out balcony duplex penthouse. Large kitchen, large dining room and living rooms for entertaing. Parking, gated upscale community with many amenties. Near Xinzhuang Subway station (in Puxi), also acess to the Hu-Huang Highway and airports either Pudong or Hongqiao. Swimming pool, tennis courts, daycare and elementary schools on site. Free shuttle bus to shopping. Only 2Km to Shanghai Rego International School, also close to Shanghai American School West Campus, German School of Shanghai, Shanghai Singapore International School Minhang Campus and L'ecole Francaise de Shanghai.
Available Now for 6500 RMB/month (approx. $800/month) + utilities

At a min it normally means a gym but depending on the complex you can add a host of other services & facilities.

We recently moved and some clubhouse facilities would resemble the gym at a holiday inn while others, such as at the Lakeville Regency are top notch. http://www.lakevilleregency.com.cn/en/zshs/index.htm

It's hard to beat Lakeville. Except for some very high end places (like Lakeville), the clubhouse facilities may be a good occasional substitute for a gym with an elliptical, treadmill, and universal machine. Most don't have much more exercise equipment than that.

It definately varies from complex to complex. There are some places with bowling alleys and yoga rooms... while others have a tiny box with one treadmill they call a gym.

If you are looking in Minhang I'd suggest it means a gym maybe with a pool or tennis court. Some complexes have a supermarket and beauty salon etc but again it really does vary. I would reccommend emailing the agency that has listed the place to find out exactly what you are looking at!

Goodluck!

Thanks for the replies! Sorry it took so long for me to get back! :? My wife is over in Shanghai as I speak and has been allocated a real estate agent to take her round some houses so she'll no doubt fill me in on the facilities when she gets back! :)

Loving these forums! So much information! Got a lot of my questions answered just trawling!

Moving in 4-5 weeks and can't wait! :D
