I got a lot of good information here and spent lots of time reading and reading, I have lived in Beijing for 4 years and am now in London getting ready to return to China after a year. I didn't realize how different SH was when compared to Beijing. Aside from where to get good beer and the most important thing you have done for me, was offer me a link to the expat chemist as Parkview hospital, because during this year I have been in the UK, I became an insulin dependant diabetic. I used search and came up with a link and an email address which allowed me to communicate with the chemist directly and find out that my particular kind of Insulin was not readily available, she gave me a list of what WAs easily available and the pricing, and I was able to make the change over while still here in the UK so I knew I would not have any really adverse reactions.

I was also able to adjust my budget accordingly as the pricing was about three times higher than I had estimated.

so cheers to you alll for the hard work you do, aside from where to get cheese, and good beer, you have such a variety of information out there, that this has got to be one of the most comprenehsive resources that can be found!

Regards

SH Expat has been tremendously helpful during the course of my stay in Shanghai. Where to eat, where to drink, where to buy stuff, and most important of all, what to expect of China.

Having read many stories about the odd ways China and Chinese in general carry themselves, it has helped me avoid mental breakdown when strange shi* happens :p

A big thank your to the community here.

After 100+ days of awful construction noise from sites all around my apt. I went absolutely cu-cu. I turned to the fine members of ShExPat for some advise - you might even call it therapy - mighty fine work there, mates. I am now a happy, well adjusted member of the Shanghai proletariat...and the noises disappeared.

Thank you so much !!!

I used to have an IQ of 156, be 6 foot 2, muscled, tanned, and an easy going and a well balanced individual.

Now I'm constantly drooling, only 5 foot 8, bony with flabby bits, constantly breaking out in sweat pimples, and prone to ultra-conservative outbursts when in the presence of others.

Thank you Shanghai expat.

Thank you!!

Hi all,

Actually I am new to this Shanghai Expat and really finds a lot of stuff and got hope that can get all the things done with this.
Really its a great idea of Mr. Micheal (founder), to found this and make is more useful for all who use and visit this.

Having a lot interest in seeing and knowing many things in this expat, and sure will continue this.

Hope there will be support from all of you,

Yours new friend,
Sharma.

It's a bobby dazzler.

I've found a bridge four, got some free DVDs, learnt where to get my cheap brandy and decent bread, been informed about the scams, found an audience for my awful jokes, can take the piss out of morons and generally be amused. The only problem I can see are the nasty and rude posters of which there are several. A small price to pay.

Well, I just signed up here, but I've been checking this site every so often, it's really a wealth of information. My situation's probably the exact reverse of many of yours: my roots are in SH, but I'm a first gen. Canadian. It's nice to visit once a while, so I pull info off this site for my trips. Kudos to all you members who've unknowingly helped me out =D

I was quite lucky that the company I work for sorted out all my relocation and helped me with most of the things I needed. That said, I met some very cool people on the Wed night mixer, and am hoping to make some new friends through Shanghai Expat. Also, whenever I have a question now, I quickly look through the forums to see if it's been raised before.
