I don't think they don't have an opinion  I'm trying to find out how to get to know their opinions.

jade000 wrote: The similar things also often happened to me. I have hanged out and dated some laowai s. In the bar, they ask me what drink I want to order. Then they will tell the waiter they want to order what I want. When I am talking the interesting things happened in my company or something else, they just stare at me for long time and say "you have a beautiful eyes."or "you are pretty. i like you".... I feel a little uncomfortable coz this guy seems to have no interest in what i am talking, he is just thinking of ....

You've discovered that guys can be airheads too. Congrats! I'm reminded of a conversation I overheard (actually just a guy talking to a chick in the park). All the guy talked about was his car, his buddies, and how much he could drink while the girl made listening noises (I don't think she was really listening, who would?). I thought at the time, what would this guy do if this girl were a award winning author or brain surgeon and started telling him about her day or work... probably he would have said something like, "I really like yer tits" In the end, I thought his mom should have gotten an abortion :!:

Wow! Men think but women don't! Me thinks you don't think too much yourself!

How many women in America watch Oprah or Dr. Phil??? How many American men watch Spike, and talk about cars and football all the time? Lots, I'm guessing. I wouldn't say Americans, or any other Western group are known for their amazing intellect.

I've met more ditsy b*tches in N. America than in China.

I haven't got much help here so far... all I've gleaned is that foreigners think Chinese women are shallow and stupid and the women of their own race are so much more interesting... thanks for sharing your racist prejudices, but it doesn't help me.

Overall though, if you're looking for more intelligent women, I'd look in places like Sweden and Finland, where the women are a lot more spirited and encouraged to follow their dreams and... well hell, to have dreams at all. I'd also look in areas of the U.S. towards the coasts. New York, California, Washington. Canada isn't a bad place to check either. France if you can't stand stuck-up people. Certain areas of Britain, etc.

Basically places where women's rights, feminism, and the women's suffrage movements happened.

I'm not attracting them (ditsy b*tches), there just everywhere in N. America, the continent that produced Birtney Spears and Paris Hilton

In Sweden and Finland, the women are so empowered that the men are the b*tches  no thanks!

N. American women, smart or not, often look good until the honeymoon is over, then they gain weight and blame it on being married, 10kgs on average (btw: men there gain 5kgs after marriage on average).

When I lived in Eastern Germany, the women there saw the West German gals as unempowered, ditsy housewives... They (E. Ger.) were liberated because they were commies :) I guess it all depends on your perspective... equality = communism you know?!

Anyway, I don't really care where they're from anymore. They can't be loud, fat, or stupid and we have to share some common interests if they wanna date me.

Why doesn't OP check into university grads or women business owners? Or girls with older brothers, psychology of birth order has shown that 2nd born children of a different gender than the 1st have very strong personalities.

as for Hollywood and modern American politicians, well, I'd have to say it doesn't matter if their men or women, they don't make the grade either

But yeah, there are truely a lot of remarkable and inteligent American, Canadian, British, German, Italian etc., oh, and Chinese women!!!!!

Many, MANY young women live lives like this:

Go to work, play MSN all day, go home, eat, watch Prison Break on YouKu in their bedroom, shower, sleep.

On days off, sleep, watch tv, sleep - maybe MAYBE go shopping.

To say that the average Shanghai girl's life is mundane is a huge understatement.

I tell people what I do at the weekend and I get told my life is 'colourful'. WTF?

True, I used to be one of them, except I didnt sleep that much on days off. The thing about Mon to Fri is, most of young OLs dont have so much to do in the offices and I dont think it only happens in Shanghai, I believes it happens in many many places around the world.

It may appear that expats don't have activities they like to spend their spare time on other than partying (where the hell do you get a tan in this town? I'm in.)

Simple truth is that there really isn’t a lot to do in Shangers. Seriously...lol.

When I get a chance to go home I am hardly ever inside surfing the net or sitting around watching tv or sitting around for hours talking to friends at a restaurant etc. Too many fun things to do. The list is quite long in comparison to the activities available here. (don't waste your time rationalizing . . . you know who you are  )

There is great big world out there. And, I for one, am enjoying my time in this part of it. Partying, sitting around for hours talking to friends in restaurants, dodging cars. Still don't watch much tv.

Just think it this way. We all eat. There are Expats who ate so many different kinds of food. And there are Chinese who have only eaten Chinese food.

There are plenty of Chinese people in Shanghai that have never eaten food other than Chinese food! So much for international city right?

Even thought its the same activity we expats have it more "colorful" as they say it :D.

There's more kinds of food in China then there is outside. My hobby is extreme mountain biking and driving idiots like ATP over the edge..... Why the hell are we discussing food and hobbies??? I guess you guys don't know how to get to know a Chinese woman either???

kalanstar,

dont look for them. they will find you, then you sort them out by dating each one untill you find the right one. Sounds universal right? it applies for all races, chinese included.

and aim for the mature ones. those barbie doll look? kick em out.

this is just fundamentally wrong. what du u know of chinese women? you are a laowai, you will never fully understand this country and its people.

I fully understand this country and it's people. They're very simple and driven by easily understood directives.

1. Survive.
2. To survive: push, shove, lie, cheat, steal, blackmail and if absolutely necessary, kill.
3. If female, to survive: marry a rich man.
3. subsection a. All foreigners are probably rich, look for white skin.

That's about it.

Wow, and just the other day I was talking about/commenting on how little racism there was in the expat community. I guess this is the exception that makes the rule?
