I would also be interested in a proper test run. Also what is the current condition of the reactor? Any fighter jets included? Do you offer payment plans? Could we rent this for a cruise to invade countries? Lastly, will you do courtesy repainting before the hand-over? Thanks.

How do I know this is a "real" aircraft carrier not a kock-off copy made in Zhejiang?

Has anyone ever seen the "aircraft carrier" (I am thinking it is a half sized version)
in a bay on the way to Suzhou...I was told by my host it was part of an amusement park
but that strikes me as kind of weird...but I am NOT a Chinese so,...maybe it (is) was?

I was at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum a couple of days ago.

They had a scale model of one of the US aircraft carriers in there. It's about 3 metres long, fully equipped with lots of parked fighter jets, extremely detailed. It took some retired Navy guy 12,000 hours to complete (he worked on it 20 hours per week for 12 years).

There's also a room in the same hall which is a mock-up of a carrier bridge. There's a movie simulation through the "windows", of the view to the forward deck, with fighters taxiing into position then taking off using the slingshot system embedded in the deck. Of course, you get sound effects too. Every now and then a fighter shoots into view from the left side, having taken off from the rear/side runway.

Really these things are extraordinary. However, with the gradual advent of "carrier-busting" missiles, I wonder how much longer they will remain relevant.

There are two like that in China, both ex-Soviet carriers, bought by entrepreneurial Chinese, and ended up as theme parks. In a bizarre way, I would rather see carriers (or merely the unarmed shell of one) be "deployed" for peaceful and recreational purpose, not to mention they are actually tax-generating, as opposed to tax-guzzling.

It's near the Shanghai watersports center in Qingpu. Our sailing club used to be there, till we moved about 2 1/2 years ago.
