Alien employment renewal and Z visa

Just like it says.. a forum for discussion of these things.

Alien employment renewal and Z visa

Postby dekcah » Tue Oct 20, 2009 9:47 am

Hey so my Alien Employment Booklet and my passport Z visa is coming up. What are the procedures for me to renew both my booklet and then my passport?

Can anyone let me know?

I tried to look up but all the questions seems to be on obtaining Z visa..... not renewing.

Thanks in advance

I employ the help of an agent for this matter. A lot quicker and saves me time and trouble going to the bureau myself. I can recommend you one if you need.

I just did this...let me see if I can remember what I brought with me, or if I can find it online.

I do remember:
-Copy of contract w/ company chop
-Copy and original business license...I would chop the copy
-Application form...if your current booklet is used up (no renewal slots) then you will need to bring in some passport size pictures.

I'll see if I can find the rest of the information online.

Here you go:

1, application form for extension of alien employment permit
2, copy of business license (or registration certificate)
3, copy of labor contract
4, employment permit of applicant
5, passport and its copy (visa included)
6, residence certificate and its copy
7, representative certificate of applicant and its copy (for those who work for representative offices only)
8, one passport photo (if the page of extension is used up)

* The form(s) must be filled in Chinese.
** If the applicant provides any document written in foreign languages, a Chinese version (printed and chopped by employer) is required as an attachment to the original one. Tel:0086-21-63650095 Fax:0086-21-63650094 Inquiry Number:12333 Shanghai Employment Service & Administration For Overseas Personnel

No, its best to call them for their address. Their website (www.12333.sh.gov.cn) says they're located at 1800 Tianshan Rd, but the one I went to was at Wusong Rd north of Suzhou Creek (and the Bund).

I currently have a Z-visa through a textile factory I had been doing some consulting work for here in Shanghai. I was doing business with them and did a little consulting just to help get my Z-visa. I no longer work with this factory and will need to renew or get a new visa soon. My question is can I renew my Z-visa through the foreign company I am here working for? The company has no office here, just has me here to do sourcing/QC stuff. Can I get a Z-visa like that, or do would that be an F-visa?

If I do have to get an F-visa, does anyone know if China is offering 6 or 12 month F-visas without requiring you to leave the country every 30-60 days? I am cool with an F-visa, just hate leaving every other month.

Thanks in advance

^If the company has no office here, there is no way you get a R/P or Z. Try the F-visa option. Check Renovator's replies and comments in this section. He's had verh helpful and detailed info. Yet, keep in mind that the visa policy is country specific.

In order for you to get a R/P or Z visa, the company you work for MUST be registered in China as legal to do business here

Ok thanks for the advice! Right now I have my Z-visa through a textile factory here in Shanghai doing consulting work for them. Can I be employed through a factory in another city, say Ningbo, and get my residence permit to live in Shanghai? My contract would say I just go to the factory maybe once per week and spend a lot of time working with the factory offices around Shanghai.
