Anyone out there interested in playing American Football sometime here in Shanghai? I just moved here in early October and I'm dying to play some pickup games of football or at least go out and throw some balls with people who can catch. I'd be willing to take the initiative to organize something to play weekly games if we can drum up enough interest. Let me know if you'd be in. I was thinking mid day on weekends or in the mornings, i live in Jing'an but can travel to set things up....post here any ideas and interest you have

I'm in if there's more people and we play tag football instead real tackles, I'm too thin to get slamed on by some 3000lb guy.

I was thinking flag football or whatever you guys are down for...I don't have a football here now but have a friend who does that I could get one from. I'm going back to the states for a short trip for Christmas and I can bring some back if people are interested. I was thinking we could just get a few of us together for some pickup games on weekends and see how it goes. I'm good almost any Saturday or Sunday around mid day. How much can you get those footballs for in the States? I'd love to have one here

Not sure yet but if your not real picky I can get some prices from Walmart, etc on them and let you know. I will do some research when I get some time. Send me a PM and we'll talk about it

One Canadian and the other one brazilian

Canadian here, currently a professor at Shanghai University of Sports... They have an organized flag football team that competes on the national level (Chinese playing football, the bar isn't set very high)... But they can manage to throw a little and some can catch and run (they have all the equipment we have back home, including balls, flags and such)... They have a tournament coming up, but I reckon they could be talked into some scrimmages with a team that we could throw together if we had the numbers. It could be a decent run and they could get to play some non-Chinese comp... I have played with them a few times, and although they are nothing to write home about, they do love the game, which is rare in these parts... University is located in Yangpu district (2nd last stop on line and if someone's willing to organize a team, I could act as the go between and get a game against these kids.., They could be keen and like I said, it could take care of some of that pigskin action that we are craving for a bit... The name is Yo, and some good old fashion football would be fun with a bunch of folks that know how to properly play...

we are playing touch right now, and thinking to buy gears for full contact lol
we're all locals but its a great pick up game each sunday, around 2pm.

I saw that Nerf made a flag football package that seems cool, being that it comes with velcro flags and nerf footballs, which we all know are MUCH easier to throw and catch than the real pigskin. In fact, I doubt anyone can throw a 40 yard bomb with a real football in SH.

I got three footballs here (2 college size, one NFL replica game ball)... Let me know if you guys actually get this going.

Is this happening on Sunday? I have a ball that I could bring too. For flags, we can buy some brightly colored towels and cut them into strips and just tuck them into our shorts.

Hey man, I'm doing fine ,thx.

I wish it'll be happening.. but the thing is finding a place and just enough ppl to get a game start running requires a lot of work to coordinate. Especially in the land of China, where ppl can't distinguish rugby from football, it's just tough to have guys regularly meeting up and play some ball unless someone is willing to do the some serious organizing work.....

So I'm just gonna stuck on baseball for now....
