Anyone on separate work schedule (2 months in/2 months out)?

Postby chinick » Fri May 11, 2007 1:31 pm

I'm done with Shanghai, I want to leave. Job and money is good, the rest stinks
my employer doesn't want me to go, and propose all kinds any kinds of arrangement to keep me here

I'm already going back home 1 month every 6 months.
Now they offer 1 every 3 months.
I could ask 2 months home, 1 in China... anything

Anyone as ever tried such living schedule, without a real home, always travelling, hard to establish real relationship

I'm from eastern Canada, it's not a short trip
also I'm single, so ''nobody'' to care about

appreciate your opinions

First off, perhaps you could say a little more about what it is you so dislike about Shanghai or what would make you happier about living here?

I am from the East Coast of the US and have a seperated work schedule between here and there. I am here 2-3 months at a time and then back home for 1-2 months. Trust me when I say I'd rather be one place or another. The constant travel is simply too much for any human being to withstand.

To that end, I can say that I am currently trying to move my job duties more to the Shanghai side than the US side. I love it here, I love everything about it and though I would like to have at least ONE friend on this side of the pond, I'm content with where I am. Being that I travel all the time, speak no chinese and work lengthy hours, it's hard to make friends here. (so far at least). I miss home when I'm here and I miss SH when I'm home.

It's a tricky position to be in and I won't claim to know what your dislike of SH stems from but I feel sure that the seperated work schedule won't make you any happier.

Good luck to you.

If you care to talk to someone about how rough the back and forth is, I can be emailed at lcrawford@operasolutions.com

I hope you find a resolution that makes you happy. :)
