Anything around Chang Ning District?

Postby andynjue » Thu Sep 27, 2007 6:23 am

Hi there again,
As some of you will remember, I am coming over to SH (in only 4 days now!) for the special olympics world games; I will spend most of my time at the international Gymnastics centre in changning; can anyone tell me if there is anything touristy to see around there, or anywhere to get lunch in between rounds?
Thanks everyone for all your help, previously and in anticipation for your help on this!

I live in Changning district whenever I'm in Shanghai. You can visit Shanhai's biggest mall Cloud 9 in ZhongshanPark, you can walk on the calm street on Xinhua Road (where I live), Xinhua Road has some really good undiscovered restaurants. Also Shanghai Film Art Center is on Xinhua Road. Also there is the shopping and dining area by Hongqiao.

Otherwise, there is not that much to see in Changning, you better go to Huangpu, Jingan or Luwan district for real fun. It's not very far away from Changning either.

cloud nine and zhong shan park are onnly about is 10 mins walk north of the Gymnastics Centre. Just walk out of the center , into the parking lot and walk to the back of the center until you see an exit between the dome building and the swim center. Wlak out that gate and go straight along that lanne towards some red brick highrises with white tops. When you hit the end of that lane, you will see light rail tracks on the right. Walk that direction and cross under the tracks and you will be at the intersection of ChangNing Rd and Kai Xuan Rd. On one corner is Cloud Nine mall. If you continue down ChangNing Rd (eastbound) the way you were already walking, Zhong Shan Park will be another 5 mins walk away.

The metro station is there so you can probably take that into downtown and see people's square and such just 3 stations away.

another convenient point of interest would include the Tea City, full of tea houses just across the street from the gym center.

lunch between rounds- Zhong Shan Park area where Cloud nine is has a range of restaurants but no western fare. You may need to find your way to another center called City Center for a few options there. Or take the metro into downtown Jing An area. Good luck

Yu888, thanks so much for the info! walking will prob be best option for us as I am a wheelchair user, so will be easier than trying the metro.
The tea city sounds great, we are all big tea drinkers - and I love chineese tea; thanks for the info!
Msittig - what is hello pizza? is it a pizza takeaway, and where would we locate it? thanks, Jue xxx
