Australian Network

Postby paulinshanghai » Tue Apr 14, 2009 12:19 pm

Hi All!

Ok, looking through past posts I keep getting conflicting reports about how to get Australian network in my house.
Simply put: I just moved into a south facing apartment, and can get any size satellite dish.
So, if you receive Australian network at home, tell me how you get it. I cant afford over $200usd a month to stream it via the net, but most people I know dont have it on their satellite dishes.

Do you need a large dish, cards etc. If anyone has any contacts they used let me know.

Firstly the streaming of THAI TruevisionsTruesports DSTV Supersports with Australia Network ( 200 channels ) costs US$85pm or rmb580pm.

not US$200.... dont know where you got that figure from

You can have Australia Network on Dream TV decdoer which costs rmb3050 delivered to your door. Thats not inlcuding a dish insatllation which cost around 800rmb.

You have emailed before about this and I have chatted with you on msn.

So if you just need Australia Network with some other channels get the Dream TV genuinine decoder. The pirate boxes cannot access Australia Network on Dream TV. If you need other sports such as cricket then get the combo Ben Sports Dream TV for rmb4050 not including dish installation.

My email is jim@bensports.tv You can buy from us direct without having agents mark up the prices. Dish installations we can arrange as well. You could ask Mat who did his dish.

Better to get a 85cm dish, the bigger the dish less chances of rain fade 60cm really is too small. Your friends dont have Australia Network as they have pirate boxes.

Mat has Australia Network as he has a genuine decoder from Ben Sports.

I can't help you with an installer as we got ours nearly 6 years ago now, but just letting you know that it is possible to get Australia Network on a separate dish, separate box. No ongoing fees and the dish is rather large. Just in case you want to look into this further and don't want to get the whole Dream package with yearly subscription ....

p.s. anyone interested in live afl games, there is a great new channel on my p2p - gotta watch some weird ads from Northern Oz, but the picture quality is better than I've seen on anything so far - look for SCA.

Goggles mate, hook me up with the P2P. How do i get it? I'll shout you some free beers at The Shed if you hook us up. Not that it matters much, me being a Tigers supporter and all.

How's the quality of the signal when it rains / cloudy days?

Shine - picture quality is MUCH better than dream, more like at home. But then I only have the old Dream system. Don't have any problems on cloudy or rainy days with Australia Network.

Mat - I found the link on www.myp2p.eu this weekend. Hadn't seen it on there before. myp2p is where I get most sport. But the direct URL anyway is http://www.justin.tv/scalive (called Sports Channel Australia). Not sure what else they will have on there but watched Car v Ess and (unfortunately for you) Bulldogs v Rich yesterday. Don't know whether you are going to want to watch much footy this year after that showing! But then again, I was a Fitzroy supporter so I know your pain ... anyway, have a look this week - I believe your guys are playing Melbourne - woo hoo!!!

If there is anybody out there who hasn't found www.myp2p.eu yet, heaps of links for English soccer, cricket (watched SA v AUS last night - pretty good picture on TVU - no buffering), and a lot of stuff out of US.

Goggles you star! Will give that a hit.

And those games are live???

As a Swans fan maybe its not a great idea... the cricket doesnt sound too enticing at the moment as well ;)

Yep all live. As I said, I only found it this weekend, so not sure what will happen next week when multiple games are on at the same time. Don't know whether they will choose one or have multiple games streaming. We'll see I guess.

Enjoy.

Just thought I should add for any newbies to living out of Australia, if you want to download shows from home, try www.diwana.org. Most shows are available for download the day after they are shown (or sometimes same day). Also a fair bit of sport (a lot of rugby). Although none of this is live. But if you are missing tv from home, have a look, there is quite a variety of different shows.

I know one guy who can help install the dish and other hardware. Never used him personally but he has been recommended by a couple of friends. So PM me if anyone needs his number.

Thanks. I hope Mr Satellite TV also reads it.

Yes IS8 at 166 degrees carries BBC, Australia Network, NHK World and some other good channels on cband, so no rain fade, unlike small 60cm KU band dishes.

You probably only need a 1.2m or 1.8m dish for teh CBAND satelltes and dont forget an Ireto encryption card for the rugby if you need to watch that. Australia Network encrypts the signal when rugby is shown.

Yes Shine I read this... It's not like I dont get Australia Network for my customers with better picture quality on Cband as I get it in PAL at 720 576 resolution, and in widescreen. Australia Network is broadcast from several satellites . I have customers with the IS8 cband on Australia Network, both in China and Taiwan.

But Dream TV converts it to a lower resolution in NTSC.

But you knew that already, just like you know that cband doesnt suffer rain fade like KU band does. Dream TV doesnt suffer rain fade if you put up a 1.2m dish or a 1.8m dish either.

There are many satellites carrying live free to air sports programs in excellent SDTV quality, such as last years Rugby World Cup, Some HDTV free sports are also shown.

One other service which might be handy to Aussies. You can watch Channel 9 nine news live each day from either Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. Just click on whichever city you want to watch. It is only on once (live). So at the moment it is 4 pm here (3 pm when it's daylight savings in Oz). Great picture, only occasionally get buffering. Here is the website:

Enjoy.

If you setup msn and list Australia as location you can get links to a lot of the online newscasts.

No worries Dave, enjoy it!

If anybody tried to get onto the AFL this week on the site I suggested, sorry but in between me finding it last week and this week's game, the AFL have got onto it and had it shut down (from what I can gather from the chat forums). Suggest you keep checking www.myp2p.eu though, someone else may put it back up in coming weeks.

There is also plenty of IPL as well as Pak v Aus starting this week on myp2p this week, all live.

Cheers.

for IPL and Australia Vs Pakistan, http://www.spvod.com is also a good option. The picture quality is much better than most other p2p applications.

Actually the Australian Channel is FREE. So if this is the only channel you want then you can put it from the sky for free if you have the correct hardware.
