They are all so beautiful.

All those green green cities, with authentic temples, pure air, clear skies and friendly locals.

yeh, and then you hear stuff like "in heaven they have paradise and on earth suzhou and hangzhou" and then you go there and you find wow, this is paradise.. I want to grow old here and listen to the brids and walk around this wonderful buildings all day long.

And then you hear Dengfeng is the cleanest city in China, and you go there and wow,.. its true.. you could lick your sharkfin soup from the floor.

Suzhou? Ha. Been here 6 years and guess what - most of those waterways you romantise about are polluted cesspools that will not support any aquatic life. The old buildings?? rebuilt over the last 5 years to resemble "old China". Birds? you must be seeing the same 10 birds that have built up resistance to the acid rain... get out into the country side and see the real China. Not many pretty cities ...but some stunning landscapes. That is until the blue trucks, construction workers and open sewers arrive......

Qingdao's nice. Jinan, nearby capital of Shandong is quite nice. Spent 2 years there. Everything is cheap and people are actually genuinely friendly. Just don't get too drunk in the KTV's.

Xi'an- hate it, but already mentioned that in the other thread.

Yangzhou is alright. Mrs. Skyline is from there. We go back every spring festival and it's a rather nice, quiet little city, in between the constant explosions of Spring Festival aerial bombardment.
