In your opinion what's the best KTV (hottest/most fun girls) with English songs newer than 1963?

Party World - Wulumuqi Road - has plenty English songs.
But, its expensive..................

If you are in Hong Qiao then the Haoledi in Brilliance Shopping centre is much less expensive.

Not sure about the girls though - I think you need to go to the seedier KTV's to see them up front - otherwise I think you need to enquire at the desk

I vote for Party World, either Wulumuqi Lu or Fuxing Park...assumed you are planning to sing ?! They have post Sinatra era songs aplenty.

A room, + 5 girls, + 4 bottles of Chivas is going to be at least RMB 5000 at a decent ktv.

I checked with my partner it cost about $500 when we go to paradise maybe a little more.

He said the girls (for singing) cost 300 rmb's

5 guys and 5 girls would be a 10person room. there is a minimum charge in places like paradise or jinbi. for a room of that size its about cny5000-6000. so there is no way it was that little at usd500. unless you are using some other spot rate.

and that minimum charge does not include the tips. its purely drinks and food.

No! I think you have to leave to have non singing activities. I don't think you can do anything at the club. It cost US $250 for the night at your place. They will stay for breakfast if you like.

I ask my partner the other day what it cost and he also wasn't sure. He goes everynight.

He thinks we pay for the room and drinks( you pay for drinks by the bottle) about US$300 and the girls cost 300 rmb per girl for the singing and dice games. Sometimes there are few extra girls. The Chinese men I go with are really into the singing and the games and the drinking
there is a lot of GumBay's and a lot of falling down.

Once again whatever it cost, its not a good place to go if you are on a budget.

You pay for drinks by the bottle. I've never had much food. a lot of oranges cut up, and some watermelon, and some snacks.

Tips are Tips if you want to tip you can. but I don't think the Chinese men tip. they get charged 300 rmb's per woman.

It's half that and the woman are very beautiful. They are not your street hooker or call girl, or massage girl.

I think of them as Semi Pro's since they don't get to leave with anyone very often, and when they do it's up to them if they want to go.

tips refer to the cny300 which by the way has been raised to cny400 and cny500 in most clubs starting this year. u dont pay for drinks by the bottle. there is a minimum charge. a small room, enough to squeeze 3 person in, has a minimum charge of cny1300 while in paradise a room for 10person has a minimum charge of cny5000-6000. even if u were to drink 1 bottle, they will charge you cny5000-6000 as they need to make a minimum.

From my experience for a room of 4 guys:

Minimum room charge: Average - 1000rmb
Bottles of Whisky: 600rmb
Beer: 40rmb
Food dishes: 30rmb
Normal girls: 300rmb
Models: 500rmb (not really models, just tall)
"Special" girls: 500rmb (These are the ones that will supposedly go home with you for an extra charge.)
Dancing girls: 500rmb (These are basically strippers)
Mama-san: The same price as the girls.
Waiteress: 200rmb

I'm not a professiona KTVer but I've been enough to quote these prices.

Haha... I don't know why there is any appeal to the special KTV... When I go to KTV with my colleagues we get a room for 10 people at about 100rmb per hour, the beers are only 10rmb per beer. So for 10 people getting ridiculously drunk you are looking at 4 hours, maybe 80 beers (the small ones, the women don't drink so much) for a grand total of about 1300rmb for 10 people for 4 hours. Pretty good deal I think... Plus free food.

I just don't know why people bother to pay for the girls that will sing with you and you pay for their drinks. Then have the "privilege" to take them home for 2000rmb after haha. God if you want to get laid just go to any bar in Shanghai and not be a complete tool. Well sorry, I guess that won't work for our fat and old readers who have to go to KTV to get laid hehe.

I would love to go to macau Can you play texas hold em at the casinos there? I always loved going to the casinos in Vegas for the $5/$10 tables, could earn your whole weekend of drinking and hotels playing one night at the casino. So easy to beat other people, just pure luck to beat the house.

Jesus H Kristos !! If you guys pay these prices you are absolutely nuts ! no wonder no one I know from Guangdong will go to KTV in Shanghai. It's a pure unadulterated ripoff !

You know, you are a very angry person. all I know they have some very nice KTV places in Shanghai and some real shitholes in other places.

Sometimes you get what you pay for. That's not being ripped off.
If i can't say something nice, I try not to say anything. Sometimes I slip when I read some post. But you always have something bad to say if someone doesn't agree with you.
I think the best thing I can do is put you on my ignore list.

Considering the cost of living here in Shanghai is higher than Guangdong, is it difficult to understand that the KTV would be more expensive here? In Tokyo you would pay 500rmb an hour to talk to a girl in a hostess club.

Really nice places with exceptionally nice girls in Guangdong - 200 for the girl's tip, 1/5 the prices mentioned for the room and food and drinks. Extra fees; if you pay more than 800 you are being silly.

I have done KTV across China. Shanghai is very expensive compared to so much of it. Also, the girls are certainly not all prostitutes. You can easily pick up KTV girls for free if you treat them right, especially in smaller cities because they really dig westerners who are fun and treat them with an ounce of respect. Last trip I picked up 6 different girls.

In Guanzhou, we went to fairly decent KTV, very popular place. It cost 1000 RMB for small room, all food and beer for 3 of us, 2 KTV girls and 1 waitress, for about 5 hours. The girls cost 100 RMB each and I tipped them both 100 RMB. They were both hot, could sing great and lot of fun to chill with. We went back next night and got same two girls.

In Yongkang, it was even cheaper, I think for 6 of us and 3 KTV girls the whole evening cost 1100 RMB and then tipped them all 100 rmb.

The best was in Nanjing imho. Went to Paradise at Crowne Plaza 3 nights straight. Fell in love with a KTV girl there and she spent every night with me (free). She could speak no english and I little mandarin but we got along just fine. Paradise cost most of any one I have been at and we blew 2000 RMB each night and the girls were 300 rmb each. Also you could get all nighters for 1500 rmb to 2000 rmb if you wanted quite easily (similar to all ktv in china of course).

I have found that you simply need to negotiate prices (via a Chinese friend, dont try in English) for what you want in advance. So room, beers, food, ktv girls etc etc right up front. Then they give you flat rate and you can enjoy the evening and not worry about the tab your wracking up. 1000 rmb is only 140 USD. That is a pretty good deal for 3 guys and 3 ktv girls like we had in Yongkang, even at double the cost, in USA or Canada, do you know how much you pay for similar evening, a lot of dough, just 6 people doing ktv in canada + food and drinks (since we dont have KTV girls) would be $400 for a night of fun easily.

I love KTV in China and cant wait to go back.

Just wish I did not fall in love, cause now I have a serious romance issue and cannot wait to go to Nanjing to see this girl again. Any advice on this one?
