Oh man, to choose just one....it's tough.
Withnail and I is definitely a big one for me. Why? Because it's funny, it's about two close friends, whose relationship is coming to an end, though they do not know it. They are also perpetually coming up or coming down with a mixture of drugs and alcohol. Funny, sad, well acted and ridiculous.

Lebowski is up there too - classic Coen brothers with all the right ingredients. Peopled by losers of all varieties, and peppered with great comedy moments. Also about close friends.

Finally, Scrooge with Albert Finney. Definitely my favourite Christmas movie, and my favourite story of all time. All about the triumph of the heart and soul over the mind. Redemption and forgiving, and the love of human kind. Great themes.

Actually, it is hard to choose a single movie, as I am writing this, I keep thinking of more and more great movies that belong at the top of my list. But these three, I can watch over and over again, and I do not get tired. Also, as anyone close to me can confirm, I quote them to death.

All time favourite it a tough one but some of the top ten in no particular order would be:

Goodfellas,
Stand by Me
Heaven and Earth
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Shawshank Redemption (bit of a cliche really)
Sleepers
"Never believe quotations you read on the internet" - Abraham Lincoln

Alot of the experience of a movie depends on mood when you watch it. The movies that stick with me transport me with imagination, story telling, and a little quirkyness.
Of the movies I that come to mind first wihtout thinking about it.

Lord of the Rings ( all three taken together )
The Star Wars series - some individually better than others
The first Indiana Jones movie - Raiders of the Lost ark.
Brazil
Adventures of Baron Munchasen

The first BIG sci-fi that I watched several times is Forbidden Planet. Amazing story telling and effects for the time it was made.

I liked Shawshank..
Breakfast Club comes to mind.

Breakfast Club!!!! Classic! 'Your middle name is Ralph, as in puke.' Why does this stuff stay in my head?
LOVED Forbidden Planet too, what a great movie 'Monsters from the Id!' Anne Francis was stunning in that movie, so gorgeous.

Goodfellas is a great call, it has that quality of being re-watchable. 'I mean I'm funny how? Like a clown? I amyoooz you?'
Too many good movies. Great thread idea Sienna :)

Well, I don't feel like making a list, but one of the best movies I've ever seen is definately:
Boondock Saints.

Awesome movie. :)

Maybe later I'll add more...but for now that's on the top.

When you say Crash, which one do you mean? The one with people who like having sex in car crashes, or the one with Matt Dillon?

I thought of a couple more:

The Usual Suspects
Existenz

Sooooo hard to pick just one movie.

Pulp Fiction was great. Had a wicked soundtrack, but all his films do.
So, I will add Reservoir Dogs to the list.
