book swap?

book swap?

Postby Anntz » Tue Nov 27, 2007 5:06 pm

sorry if this is irrelevant. But anyone knows about any book swap club in Shanghai? (or DVD swap?)

I was looking at The Lonely Planet Story, with a pricetag of 200RMB I'm just not sure whether it's worth it as I hardly read same book twice (can't blame me, it is a fast food era).

I'd also love a copy of LP Alaska if anyone happens to have it...I have a few english books (or french, and of course Chinese), etc, if anyone's interested.

thanks!

A grandmother who contracted a potentially fatal superbug in Scotland has been saved after a hospital fed her daughter’s faeces to her.

Ethel McEwan, an 83-year-old from Guardbridge, Fife, was near death after contracting Clostridium Difficile, the Daily Record reported.

But she was saved after receiving a "faecal transplant" from her daughter, Winnifred.

The treatment involves liquidising a sample of faeces from a close relative of the patient, and feeding the liquid down a tube into the stomach.

I dont know of any club but know of places where you can borrow/exchange books:

-Valley Gourmet
-RU? Cafe

If you end up organizing something let us know.

It's a pity that places like Bookworm Cafe in Beijing never made it to Shanghai. One of my favourite Cafes in the world. Really nice...

Yes I love Bookworm in Beijing, they have thousand of english books, magazines. If someone opens one in Shanghai, I bet every expats plus locals will go there all the time.. Unfortunately bookworms in Beijing has terrible western food.. Their pasta was so bland.. I dont mind paying extra RMB of food for the free read books and comfy couches but the food was just terrible.

There is a book swapping club at Figaro coffee shop near Xintiandi. They belong to the book crossing club. They meet every month to discuss the books but you can also stop by the coffee shop and check out their books at other times. Details about the club are listed in City Weekend. Not sure if you'll find the specific books that you are looking for but you might find something else of interest.
