Books, kids/adults clothing to sell/give away - WHERE?

Postby Elizabeth Lee » Fri Oct 17, 2008 2:03 am

Hi

We just moved here. Our place doesn't have as much storage space as our previous place. We are cleaning out our closets and bookshelves, and are giving a lot of children clothing away to orphanages.

What other charities can we give to if it pertains to adult clothing? Shoes gently worn, women suits etc. Back in the US, there are women societies we can donate to, where the charity sponsors a suit for economically challenged women so that they can look somewhat professional for their interviews.

Any suggestions on where we can sell / donate our books? We have lots of soft cover novels (the usual John Grisham stuff) and also some hard cover books on Management and Finance from our MBA days.

Thanks
Elizabeth

This is a good summary of where you can donate to various charities:

If you have any educational books, consider http://www.library-project.org. I'm their point person here in Shanghai.

Is there a 2nd hand English bookstore for me to sell my non-children books to?

Skyline5k - Thanks. Do you take both English and Chinese kids' books? What age group?

3 yuan per day is over 1000 yuan per year per cbm so it's very expensive isn't it? May be I don't have much valuables... ;-)

In our pursuit of all things material in this mad race we call life, many of us have become inconsiderate, selfish, and downright kiasu. There are thousands of people living in poverty in shanghai.even more.

There is a second-hand book store by Shanghai Book Traders next to their big bookstore on Fuzhou road. They will buy your books for a very low price.
