Bookstore question

Postby Diomed » Sat Jul 19, 2008 10:42 pm

Does anyone here know of a good bookstore where I could find titles such as Lonely Planet in English? Actually it doesn't have to be Lonely Planet, just a bookstore that sells a phrasebook, and other English language material. I live on Campus at ECNU in the Putuo district, so, something around there would be great, but I'm willing to go wherever(in Shanghai) to find a decent phrasebook.

There's a Charterhouse Books in the basement of Times Square on Huaihai Road (93-111 Huaihai Zhong Road,Shanghai) and one in Superbrand Mall. They carry Lonely Planet.

You can also probably find it at either of the Shanghai Book Traders locations - 390 Fuzhou Lu or 50 Hongqiao Lu, both in Puxi.

For your information you will not be able to find Lonely Planet CHINA over there. I have been told by one staff of Charterhouse that they were not authorized to retail this book...

I have only seen the English LP China in one place: Boxha Cafe on Xin Zha Rd. and...1 block west of Tai Xing Rd. in Jing An district.

Amazon.com delivers and it's quick. Otherwise Charterhouse in Times Square is a good source.

I found it on the first floor of the Shanghai Book Traders at 390 Fuzhou road. It's got a 2006 publishing date, but w/e, I don't think the language has changed much in 2 years. They also had a copy of the Lonely Planet Shanghai city guide, if anyone is interested. Thanks BoShiDunRedSox for the tip, and everyone else for the info.
