Just arrived back on a gruelling 10 hour flight with KLM.
Had the misfortune to sit next to the toilets on the plane.
Without exception every Chinese person using the toilets failed to slide the lock across after they got inside which led to a series of very funny "exposures" as the next person seeing the door marked green/unoccupied barged in to find someone already inside.
You would have thought that those civilized enough to be on a plane from Amsterdam would be a cut above your average farmer type- but apparently not.

Oh, those uncivilized Dutch Chinese. Nothing like that ever happens on flights back to Shanghai from other countries.

Not surprised. Those flying on the planes are not more civilsed just more wealthy because of good family connections and mates in the right places.

Seeing as you saw lots of "bums", I imagine the men were standing up peeing with their pants around their ankles like toddlers do. See this a lot in public toilets, including places like plaza 66.

They don't lock the toilet doors in China why would they do it on a plane! The number of times I've walked in on a security guard in my office building taking a dump ....

bonnie, are you not awared that large percentage of Chinese passengers ARE farmers? they went oversea for labor work.

They don't even care if there is a door or not to close, never mind whether it is locked or not.

Good point that - never thought about these guys. Guess they are doing construction work OS but I gather they have specific destinations in which they fly to such as Singapore, Africa and Dubai etc and that they would only fly mainland airlines such as China Eastern

Learnt recently that AMS is used as a transfer hub for "Do Europe in 5 days" or "Cheap beach vacations in Spain" tours by some Chinese travel agencies. Actually, on my last trip to AMS with KLM, the plane was fully booked, mainly Chinese (based on looks). But at the baggage claim in AMS, we were with only 5 people waiting for our luggage (5! Out of a full Boeing 747-400!).

On a flight to the USA once I went to go in the toilet and there was some Chinese girl sitting on the commode. Lock the door obviously never entered her mind as she sat there with her pants and panties down to her ankles.

Also seems that Chinese have little clue how to open the door. It's comical.
