Can you recommend a good place to buy decently priced music? The place I currently get music has good price (10rmb for 3 cds), but its selection of non-asian music is really small. Even better if they sell less mainstream, more indie rock stuff. Not looking to buy mariah carey or backstreet boys.

I've given up trying to buy music here - downloading is the key!

I get 3 cds for 10rmb at my univeristy campus. I'm pretty sure any college/ university (i.e. heavily populated with unemployed students) area will sell at this price. I also get my dvds for 4rmb and can switch it if I am dissatisfied with quality.

I would dl music if I could..but I can't access any music on my computer now so have lost thousands of songs . Life with out music would drive me crazy, especially in a place like Sh...

there are some english music CDs sold by roadside peddlers at Wu Jiang Road near Shi Men Yi Road metro station but it's 5rmb per piece.

Almost all the CDs you can find on the road or at usual shops are fake and with a sound quality that is unpredictable. Some of them are not distinguihable from the originals but most sounds lousy, have a background hiss that is quite fastidious and, this is the most annoying fact, becames unplayable after some times (due to the poor quality of the main material). I'm keep on buyng my CDs from amazon.com, no more than 5 pcs the times and always get it in no more than 2 weeks (and no extra charges), otherwise I buy downloads of CD quality (16 bit) or better (24 bit), no MP3 thanks...
I was also quite lucky to find original CDs on the street for about 10 RMB, some with damaged boxes, but it seems that all those people has disapeared...

cds? I haven't bought a cd in years. I buy online (itunes) to support artists I like, or download pirated ones.
