I need a new laptop went to xujiahui to look at some new ones and found that the prices were significantly higher than if i bought the same model in the States. The prices were for certain models were almost DOUBLE.

Why is that when everything is made in CHINA? Is that just a rip off central for unsuspecting shoppers?

Also, the new computers were equipped with chinese version of windows. They said they could install English version but it would be pirated. How is this going to affect warranties?

I plan on moving back to the states in 6 months or so and i dont want to encounter warranty problems when i return.

Is there a place in SH where i could buy a real english version laptop at a decent price? Im not looking for dirt cheap but i dont want to be robbed.

Chances are that you won't even have a warranty to be concerned about!

If you can wait until you are back in the States, wait and buy one there, plus in six months there should be new hardware to choose, Faster Apple Macbook Pro's with Leopard etc, newer faster Intel/AMD processors etc.

Plus a drop in prices for technology deemed new on the market right now.

But if you have to have one now, try Dell or contact ComputerSolutions on this site.

has warranty and delivers laptops. They also have online laptop configuration.

Try Dell. Company told me they just got one there. When I get to SH, I will use that one.

yes dell i use dell for a long time never had problems before you can order online if you want to buy online and the guys speak english very easy to do and yes they deliver within 1 week or so online u even customize the computer you want

Try Best Buy in Xujiahui, you should know them well if you're from the states.
