Buying train tickets

Postby DJB50 » Tue Jun 22, 2010 6:38 pm

Hi all.

My wife and I are coming to China for a few weeks during July. We would like to take the overnight train to Beijing from Shanghai. I understand that the new D class trains are fantastic and this would appear to be the best use of the time available.

I have been told recently that we will have difficulty getting soft sleeper tickets as we only arrive in Shanghai 3 days before we wish to travel. This apparently is due to the high demand during expo.

Does anyone know of a trustworthy agent who will be able to arrange the tickets as soon as the 10 day window for purchasing opens? Some of the mark-up rates on the internet seem v high and I have never dealt with these companies before so do not know who or what to trust.

Your collective help would be very much appreciated.

Regards
Dan

I can't recommend an agent, but maybe this reference will be of use: http://www.chinatravelguide.com/ctgwiki ... r_D_Trains
