I was looking at the discounted airfares on ctrip.com and was wondering if anyone has used this website for booking travel, and are they reliable. the prices seem really good.

I've used ctrip many times. I find that they're the cheapest and most reliable.

They've got a good english speaking call centre and store your information so you don't have to repeat like a new customer every time you fly. Great time saver!

Also, they will deliver the tickets or allow you to pick up at your departure airport terminal (if they have a desk/facility there..) I dont carry a Chinese C/C, so the ability to pay in cash is great.

Never had a complaint yet!!

Our Shanghai office has been booking all of my airline tickets out of Shanghai (and other staff) for other Asian destinations through Ctrip for the past 3+ years. Not sure if they do them online or call them in but I know they are always very happy with the discounts we get and other services such as ticket delivery. Have also used them to book hotels. As a user I have not had any problems with any of the airline tickets.

yes..they are the best...my hubby and i always book our airtickets and holidays and they delivered tic to your doorstep on time.we have been using them when we lived in beijing, and still using their service here in shanghai.if you booked your short holiday stays within china by ctrip, some hotels here give rooms with good views or upgrade hotel rooms when they knew we are ctrip members.no complains at all.

I use E-long. What's the difference between both services? They seem to have identical prices and offerings. Any reason for me to switch to C-trip that I should know of?

C-trip It is the best on-line service I have used in China; I have used them for a long time.

I book 20+ flights & hotels with them around the world with no problems. If you get to the hotel & there is a question or booking issue C-trip will call them and straighten things out real quick ! Been there done that.

C-trip just went public on NASDAQ, buy their stock and thank me later, booze will do, I have everything else.

I use both Ctrip and Elong, domestic air fares are mostly the same. For Int'l tickets and hotels, better to compare their price lists. In term of service, I found Ctrip had better customer service and the English line was more accessible compared to Elong. I have not used eithe one in the recent time so cant tell the most current situation.

To answer your question, yes, they are both reliable and the 24/7 service is indeed helpful whenever I was stuck in the middle of China and didnt know which hotel to go.

Yep add me to the list - used C-Trip to book flights and even hotels and 100% reliable, tickets delivered to your door, English website etc. Fool proof!

They even send you a text message the day you travel with the weather at your destination city - amazing!

The number is 800-820-6666 but I've NEVER called only booked via their website.

I usually book with Ctrip but recently found another alternative.
She has even better price than Ctrip and deliver to your place.
I found her on this site and her name is Helen.

I second the recommendation to use Helen. I priced out a trip to HK using Ctrip and Elong. I called Helen for a quote and she beat the Ctrip price by 200RMB. I paid cash to save the CC charge. THe tickets were delivered to my house.

You can do a search to find her info: "helen" +travel.

Ctrip is great. I think eLong partnered up with Expedia but its hard to say what will change. Just as in the West, check the fares across various websites. Give Helen a call too and give her a chance too. All of this won't take you long to compare and you'll end up finding a great price. I love COD also.
