Can anyone please reccomend a real estate broker?

Postby giacomodolce » Wed Apr 21, 2004 7:30 pm

Hi,

I'm an American moving from Taipei to Shanghai later this year. Before I land for good in October, I am planning on taking a 1 week trip this June to scout the town out. During the trip I'd like to check out housing to get an idea of what I'll be getting me and my family into.

I have two questions.

1. Can anyone reccomend a real estate broker who they have had good experiences with? (English speaking preferred, my Mandarin is just basic)

2. What is a good part of town for a young married couple to move to? What neighborhoods would you suggest?

Thank you. This website is great!

you can get a lot of information just by browsing around, or especially doing a search - either on the forums or on the entire site.

try these links I found

#1
various agents-
http://www.shanghaiexpat.com/Web_Links+index-req-viewlink-cid-6.html
a post in the forums where people talk about some agents-
http://www.shanghaiexpat.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=3549
general info-
http://www.shanghaiexpat.com/displayarticle147.html

#2

http://www.shanghaiexpat.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=1080

you can find info about your other post about starting a business just by browsing around and doing some searches. give it a shot.

teach a man to fish :)

hope this helps.

For a start, check out
http://www.thatsmagazines.com/classifie ... ocation=sh
where available accommodation is listed, you can get agents names and check out their web sites. Also, http://www.metropolis-sh.com has a lot of site photos which can help. Where to live will probably be dependant on where you are working.

Hi,

I work at a Relocation company called Asian Express. We usually refer clients to the following Real Estate agent - they are both professional and has English Speaking staff:

Pacific Properties
Room 910 Chun Shen Jiang Mansion
400 Zhejinag Zhong Lu,
Shanghai 200001

Tel. (+(86)-21-6351 1503

Or contact me for further information on:
claus@aemovers.com.hk
Website:www. aemovers.com.hk

A great location is the french consession around Hengshan Rd. - It is possible to get a nice 1-2 bedroom apartment there for between 3000-5000 RMB+

Hi - I used several property agents before I found Stanley: 13044139793
--He is extremely attentive and works very hard to understand what type of home/flat you are looking to rent. Some property agents were ready to show me ridiculously priced flats (2000-3000USD) even after I told them that this was overpriced and outside of my budget. Through him I found a sweet, new 3bdrm/2bth, 15th fl (162 sqr met) flat in Xujiahui for less than 800USD. His english is great.
