I have a 3 year old IBM X300 Laptop in good working order and a 3 year old Lenovo Desktop that is really good condition(only used for 1 year) that I would like to donate to a recognized charity.

Are there any charities in Shanghai that can give receipts for such donations for tax purposes?

Check with AmCham - they have a corporate social responsibility department that has performed due diligence on dozens of charities. They can tell you which charities can issue fa piao. Ask for Oliver Yang - he heads the CSR dept.

We can certainly check with our supported Community Outreach projects (not supposed to use the word 'Charity' by the way!) to see if anyone of them is in need.

We work with several well established and reputable associations and I am sure one of them would welcome the donation with open arms. Not sure about issuing receipts though but we can check that out for you as well if you wish.
