Hi!

I need a good cheap and clean place to stay for a least a week while I check out ShangHai.
I am a Canadian ESL teacher, female, 34 -non smoker.

Tips and opinions welcome:)
I have already been directed to "The Captain" hostel , just wondering if there are any other suggestions.

well, I've just stayed over the weekend at the captain. It's good, and cheap. And people there were rather nice (especially if you come speaking chinese to them). Good point is also they don't close doors at night. So you can come back real late if you want.
This is a good bet, but as it's a "youth hostel" don't know whether you can stay more than a week.
Good way to meet ppl, as well.

Aside from that, I know the music conservatory has some hosting. Don't know the details, but skip it if you plan on going out in evenings, they just close way too early (like 10pm, if I remember correctly).
PM me if you want more details, but I've never stayed there yet.
