China (Shanghai) Work Visa Processing in Manila

Just like it says.. a forum for discussion of these things.

China (Shanghai) Work Visa Processing in Manila

Postby diosza2000 » Tue Jan 15, 2008 11:18 pm

I would like to seek information to all Filipino's now working in any part of China (Shanghai preferred) and to others that can help as to the whole visa application process here in Manila.
I received a job offer in Shanghai last December and went back to Manila to process all the legal formalities. When I got all the required legal paper from Shanghai and here in Manila, I immediately run the to the chinese embassy here. After being interviewed by the consul, I was informed that it will take 2-3 weeks up to maximum of 2 months to process the visa.
My questions is:
1. How come the waiting time is to long??? 2-3 weeks up to 2 month??? I feel its soo absurd for the long waiting time just to process a piece of paper... :x
2. Did anybody here from Manila experience the same wait time?
3. Can anybody explain to me why this takes so long to process.

Thank you.

Because you are a Filipino and China doesn't want an influx of maids. I mean, why do you think it doesn't take so long when Americans get their visa in 24 hours?

You never did answer the question on your other thread: What job are you going to do in China?

Also, the company is a French medium sized organization. It is their first time, as according to them, to hire an Asian (Filipino) from outside China. Most of their top and middle level Management are composed of French people and the rest are local Chinese.

You should be ok then.

Just understand that, for right or wrong, the visa approval process for Filipinos and other Asians in general is much more complex.

The good news is that if you renew your contract when it expires you will have an easier time getting your status here renewed.

Thank you underh20, the good news also is just I have already received a call from the embassy confirming the approval of my Visa. But still not enough time to process it with our local overseas labor department here for me to make it by Friday 10am for that very important meeting with the company's client in Pudong.
But still, one worry down, 2 to go.... hehehehehehehe
