China Telecome SMTP mail outgoing server? which

Postby camelina » Tue May 22, 2007 1:47 pm

I read somewhere through a google search that CT doesnt have an SMTP server? So does that mean I can't send mail out from my existing email account (even though I can receive through it)? does anyone know? :)

thanks.

this basically means that all of their accounts are only mail enabled? i doubt it, i think they are very capable of handling mailbox-enabled accounts...

There is no smtp server unless you specifically sign up for an email account with them.

Try changing your outgoing SMTP port to 26. It's usually defaulted to port 25 (which may be blocked by local ISP).

Port 26 will only work if your provider is running an additional email service on that port.

We run email on port 25, and port 26. Port 25 has spam checking, rbl checks and lots of other things that local ip addresses typically fail, so we run another authenticated smtp service on port 26 which only our clients can use.

So, I have to ask the question, you aren't one of our clients are you?

If you are, mail setup instructions are on our website under the support page, in both english and chinese. (www.computersolutions.cn - click support)

Lawrence.

ISP’s will often block SMTP for external prefix’s (i.e. other ISP’s) on residential services. This prompts the user to use their ISP’s email services. An alternative is to use Web or IMAP if it’s available.
