Well, i i have something to do with chinese culture or one of my parents is chinese, so i definitely will do that, because is part of a culture no one can deny that, growing up in a culture and nothing can change that even moving to a new country and taking new habits and so on, i love my country and my culture as well "VIVA EL PERU". But of course there is always people who has been living in another countries for so long and when they comeback home they act like they don't know anything "what a shame but is true" so i think is the same with people from china living overseas this happen evewhere.

...sometimes it is because they actually don't know anything about the culture to which they are akined... and therefore everything is as foreign to them as it would be to any outsider

Back to the original question....

I am not Chinese, but giving my baby a Chinese name was a no-brainer to me. After all, I felt this would preserve a part of her Chinese heritage. My in-laws had the very difficult task of choosing the name and it took many months. We also hyphenated her last name to include mine and my husbands. It's a long name, but I felt it needed to be done as I hope she understands that neither culture as priority over the other.

I have just thought of a nice Chinese name for my baby girl. As my surname is "Fang", the baby will have a Chinese name called "Fang Aijia" Which sounds like Fang loves home, love everybody. So that all the relatives from my father's side will be able to call the baby in the future.

I did have a lot of suggestions from my father's side, but since they are very religious Christians, they always come up with names like Tian (heaven) or En (grace). Well, I'm also a Christian, but not as religious as I have to use everything from the Bible for my baby's name.

But I do like some suggestions people gave me on this forum, to think of a name by thinking what I want her to become. I do want my girl to become a nice person who loves her family, and loves people around her (The Bible also says: Love your neighbor as yourself, so my father's side are very satisfied with this name, too).

However, on the passport, I decide to have the full name like: First name (German) + Fang (my Chinese family name) + Last name (German).

I feel really released now:)
