no. not strange at all. its was just that your login name on the left hand side is just numbers that represent the Unicode characters (#22909;#26031;#20339) instead of the chinese characters (好斯佳). A limitation of the forum software

Hello everyone, I am a newcomer to this site. I will be coming to Shanghai next week for vacation and I would love to meet new friends in Shanghai to take me around Shanghai for a great night life.

Does this meeting hold every sunday at noon? Cause I think I can join the 9/11/05 meeting. Is there a fee to the meeting?

I guess all I have to bring is my smile, my politness and my wallet. Right?!

Take care everyone and hope to see you guys there.

I lives in New York City, but I am a ABC who born in Shanghai but left and live in NYC since i was little.

Bye and be happy.

PS. IS there a address for Coffee Bean?? If I call a cab just tell them Coffee Bean in Xintiandi?

Thanks for everthing

No I don't think your name (the 3 Chinese characters) are strange at all. I just thought your login name was all those numbers rather than the 3 characters but Kuldaen explained it to me.

All taxi drivers should know where is XinTianDi..
If you are taking train, drop off at Huang Pi Nan Lu Station. Head to the south, walk for about 200m, you get to see some really nice building. That's it, you are there. Then you look for a map, that show u the location of Coffee Bean.

Hello, plutogirl21! U r definitely right, what u have to bring is ur smile, ur politness, and of course ur wallet for buying delicious coffee and food. And this meeting holds every sunday beginning from 12pm. There is no any fee to the meeting. Better for u to call a cab there, just telling them to Xintiandi, Xing Ye Road. Then u just walk into Xintiandi area, coffee bean is in the middle of Xintiandi. When I first went there, what I know is only the rough location of Xintiandi. It's easy to find. :D

I'm sorry that you're upset. Even though it seems everyone knows each other this is not the case. I met and talked to about 10 new people and most of them were there the first time too and had only met each other on that day.

I agree though there wasn't enough chairs. These things are getting too popular :) Did you say hello to anyone? We could have made more room I am sure.

Unless they are all talking at the same time, I'm sure most people won't mind if you briefly interrupt them.

I think the best way to do it is not to say hello but to ask "Is the the Coffee Meeting?"

I find this is a bit easier than saying hello to complete strangers especially if you are a little shy.

Hopefully you will come again and we'll get to meet you. (or you can come to the saturday one)

Perhaps. I met a lot of people yesterday and unfortunately only remember half the names. I'm the Australian Vietnamese Chinese guy who does speaks hardly any Mandarin.

Hi. I'm visiting Shanghai for the first time, but with a view to a more permanent move from Oz in the future, so i take it that there will be people attending the coffee meeting that will be able to point me in the right direction whilst skirting the potholes that will no doubt litter the path.

The coffee meeting is open to everyone. Have a look at the begining of the thread for the relevant time, place and all that then show up and have some fun!

Hello togehter,

I am a newcomer! Coffee sounds good, is it still going on? Or anything else, young expats can join?

Thanks,
