Taobao
When lying, dont be afraid of contradicting yourself later. Lies are not for making people actually believe, they are just for evading a temporarily awkward situation.

I can advise you to buy a Samsung T240, I bought it around 2400 rmb, it's a 24" full HD with DVI/HDMI/VGA.
What's the difference between taobao and 360buy ?

I like the Benq/Acer G2400W myself. Full 24" HD with DVI, HDMI, VGA also
Currently about ¥1588.00 on 360buy.
I have 4 of them.

Taobao is an "auction" site with many retailers, 360buy is one retailer.

Great stuff! I'm in the hunt for a new screen as well, so I'll for sure check this one out.

I guess this question is a bit unnecessary since you own 4 of them already  , but are you happy with the image when you run it on a high resolution? Also, if you tried it, how's the quality when it comes to movies?

Some reviews;
Hardwarezone.com

Drainweb.com

Newegg.com

So seams to be a pretty solid product this one.

wow thank u all. I went down to a place called ( i think) "cyber" or Grand gateway Shopping plaza with about 4 levels of toys. Man lm going to be so broke here, too many good things. I got some prices on some, without really bargining so here are some prices for those that are interested.

LG 24" - 2050RMB, 22" - 1450RMB
Dell 22" - 2099RMB ( they didnt have 24" - go figure)
Benq 24" - 1780RMB
Samsung 22" - 2493RMB
Samsung ( different place) 24" - 2400RMB, 22" - 1640RMB

So yeah some different prices. Might go down there again on the weekend!

Have fun all.

PS: Is there a music/ pro audio shop here in Shanghai? Something like www.sinemedia.com in Beijing...

I use the G2400W as a secondary monitor to my 24" iMac, its more than adequate for that job.
lighting coverage is even throughout the whole screen (no abnormally light or dark area's).

I've had some for 2 years no, zero issues.

I've used it for Gaming with PS3 and X-Box over the HDMI or VGA, and its nice (although I'm sitting right by the screen, so i'm not *so* objective).

Movie quality is fine, although I don't really watch HD on something that small, I prefer to watch HD on a sofa in my lounge on a proper HDTV.

For the price, its a bargain.

My first one cost 2850, so they've dropped in price a lot!

One thing to do when you get a screen though, or are buying one - make sure that there are no bad pixels. I usually do a full white, full red, full yellow or blue check to make sure of that. If you're buying from a store, make sure to do that before you hand over the cash.

At least with 360buy, I can send it back and get another one..

Forgot to add that it switches between sources easily too, so you can plug something into the HDMI, the DVI and VGA all at the same time, and just switch between them as necessary. This is useful if you have a PS3 on your desk today for example ;)

Just wanted to send a quick thank you note to CS regarding mentioning the Beng monitor.

Finally, like 2 months to late (but I guess to late is better then never), I purchased one of these Benq monitors earlier today. They didn't have the 24" G2400W, so instead I went for the 24" G2410HD model.

1.500RMB over at Metro City, and so far I'm super satisfied with it. (perhaps I could have bargain some more... but since I was happy with the price, I really didn't see the point)

So once again, big thank you CS! :D

Cheers

Picking up this thread as I am looking for some monitors for graphic work

I know you don't have any interest in the Benq/Acer G2400W other than a friendly recommendation... but this monitor has not fared well in many reviews (1 & 2 stars), in fact a thrashing is more like...

Maybe for a budget monitor it's suitable but for anyone who is doing a bit more maybe should consider something a little more...

Just my 2p

The links and shopping suggestions are greatly appreciated! :D

NEC LCD2690Wuxi but the price :( They also have a 24"-er, might be nice.

Have seen some T221's on fleaBay for around a grand ...

Hard to beat a CRT tho. The FW-900's are down to cheap on Taobao but none in Shanghai.

I agree a CRT has the colour but not the resolution of a LCD plus you need another desk to hold it! haha

NEC LCD2690 - $1600 your not kidding.

Thanks! :D

I'd chat to Lawrence (computersolutions) on PM. He won't rip you off, good rep.

I'm using a Samsung 18" flat sceen monitor, suits me & Mrs Zak fine.

However a 500 Gb hard drive vs the current 80 Gb for the same price gets my attention like dropping a cigarette in a dry grass filled barn.

C drive keeps whining it's getting short of space.

Z.

Gigabytes. Thousands of megabytes.

Before, I dared to use 1 k to write a program. Saved on a casette tape.
It's time I got a real job in China ! Coming here was career destruction - but that's about to change. Push your luck at http:\\www.lucky-jamieson.com

Funny how water fills a container... I added a 1Tb HDD to the 500gb in my desk top and I think after a few months I'll need another. If I could only get cable TV here...

On a side note. I've worked as an graphic/creative designer for almost 10 years, and I'm very surprised how good this monitor is handling colors, sharpness, etc. Sure, on a professional level I wouldn't have chosen this Benq G2410HD model that I picked up yesterday. But when it comes to dealing with normal "computer stuff" at home + some minor graphic work here and there, it's doing a great job.

I Should add the 23" 1920 x 1080 (HD Resolution) Acer is now a little over 1000RMB

That said, the 23" is exactly the same size as the 22" it replaced (albeit with a higher resolution), so don't believe the numbers.

Link here -

Screen prices have dropped tremendously over the last year or so.

This is a small but very useful application to test the LCD screen for Dead Pixels. (use google to download this application)

Why bother ? Just look at the three solid colors in turn. Dead pixels stand out like a sore thumb.

Btw, dead pixels are not the be-all and end-all of lcd quality measurement.

Very rare these days anyway.

Best Buy took back my Laptop for 1 dead pixel upon first boot. But it was a 9xxxrmb Lenovo laptop not a 1000 rmb Acer monitor ;)
