Hi

http://www.shanghaiexpat.com/MDForum-vi ... 7117.phtml

http://forum.cabletv.com/tech-questions ... r-vcr.html

I was not able to see the attached pdf file in the link above.

I have got normal coaxial antenna is connected directly to Samsung TV aerial jack on.

Another coaxial -"Free To Air" channels is connected to Digital Set-Top Box (Humax IRCI-5400z)and satellite decoder is connected via composite cable (RCA Yellow, Red, White) to TV jacks ( AV IN1 Yellow, Red, White ).

LG Combo with VCR (DVD Recorder) model RC185 is connected from AV out (RCA composite cable Yellow, Red, White ) to TV Samsung AV IN2 (RCA composite cable Yellow, Red, White).

If I want to record 1- normal TV channel or 2- Satellite decoder channel to DVD recorder , are the connections okay ? do I need to do them in other ways ?

Thanks
zillah

Whatever you want to record will have to go into the TV via your DVD Recorder. the RCA will ahve to go in, and another RCA or other output cable from the recorder to your TV. Your recorder will then need to be on all the time in order to have the satellite TV working.

Are you saying that I have to connect cables like described below to be able to record from Satellite :

RCA cable from decoder OUT to Recorder AV IN

Another RCA cable (or any other connection type) from recorder AV OUT to TV AV IN

What about if I want to record from normal TV channel ?

does your TV have an output? If so, that might be able to send a signal to the recorder. You can buy RCA switch boxes very cheaply if you need more outputs.

If your TV doesn't have an output, i reckon you're screwed unless you can connect the TV coaxial to your DVD recorder.

Yes it does have one AV output.

Actually with the HUMAX there is a scart out connection. You can go scart out to composit as well.

But yes Humax to recorder AV in.... AV out to TV is correct.

And with your TV OUTPUT, you MAY be able to send the picture out to the DVD recorder and record that way.
