Converting from L to F visa on your own

Postby kathytan » Wed Jun 09, 2004 11:24 am

hi..

i'm in SH at the moment on a L visa expiring in a couple of weeks.

was wondering if anyone can help me out here. I understand that there are 'services' out there that can assist you in converting your tourist L visa to a business F without leaving SH. How do they do it?

If I can get the company letter on my own? How should I go about the conversion on my own.. process? things i need to do? Really appreciate some advice here!! Thanks!

Hi Kathytan,
There should be some good posts on this, a lot of people have dealt with it, so I would suggest doing a search for the topic, but briefly, as I just did this a few weeks ago, you will need:

1. Company Letter
2. Passport
3. Yellow Sheet showing temporary registration from your local police station.

Take all these things to 333 Wusong Lu. (About a 10 kuai taxi ride north from HeNanZhongLu Subway Station). Each country's passport is a slightly different price, but when I did it, it cost me 320 RMB and I got my passport back in 5 days. It's fairly straightforward, although you might have to wait in line for a little bit when you're dropping it off.

As I said, feel free to search for other postings on this site, because a lot of people have posted about the topic . Good luck :)
