David Beckham, LA Galaxy, Shanghai March 5

Postby shinpath » Tue Feb 05, 2008 2:08 am

I would be very surprised to find any living fans of the LA Galaxy or the American MLS league in Shanghai, but if there are, let's meet and sit together at the match at Shanghai Stadium on March 5. I'm coming from Japan so pm/or e-mail me at shinpath@yahoo.com

No snide comments about yank footie, please.

Shanghai awaits Beckham's Galaxy
30 Jan 2008
(Shanghai Daily) David Beckham is coming. But fans may have reasons to grudge as the former England captain may play just one half of the game to avoid "injuries ahead of the MLS season."

Beckham's Los Angeles Galaxy will line-up against China's Division One team East Asia at Shanghai Stadium on March 5.

The Major League Soccer outfit, with its newly appointed coach Ruud Gullit, is touring Asia ahead of its season opener in March end.

But Galaxy assistant general manager Tom Payne played down the Beckham factor, saying the team will play safe with its most expensive player, who moved from Spanish champion Real Madrid to the US last year, in what was seen as a major coup for Galaxy.

East Asia will be led by head coach Xu Genbao, who said it was a dream for his young side - most of them are less than 20 years of age - to play some of the stars of the game.

It is likely that Galaxy may play one more game in China before it heads to South Korea.

Tickets on sale now

Tickets went on sale on Friday
You go to two websites, either http://www.lagalaxychinatour2008.com or http://www.bellsongroup.com There is a phone number, but the clerk tells you to get them online. You have to register with them first.
Prices are in either USD or RMB. I got 4 seats in the USD28 section, which looks like the cheapest lower level.

PM me if you want to get together to try and watch a team practice session. Cheers
