Delivery for MacDonald's and KFC

Postby cacky » Wed Jan 24, 2007 10:01 pm

Hi guys ... this question may sound stupid but does MacDonald's and KFC do delivery just like Pizza Hut? Coz' I kinda saw these KFC and MacDonald's guys on their delivery runs ... Sometimes, I get lazy and don't feel like walking all the way just to get a burger or a chicken.

Any idea how do we go about calling them to order?

KFC delivers for RMB50 up orders. You will have to order 5 burgers to avoid the walk.

Same with MacDonalds. We once asked them to get the delivery guy to go to a DVD store on the way and pick us something up, which he did.

Think the real amazing thing is what can the delivery guy NOT pickup/do for you while delivering your fast food junk to you?, Last I saw, KFC 2 person meal is around 40 RMB? or was that for 1 person... But it should definitely fill 2 people up, 50RMB+ of fast food.

It was inevitable that the fast food chains in China would do delivery. Next you know it, Carrefoure, Walmart, Watsons, Bistros and DVD Stores will deliver to you.

It's still expanding, sooner or later it will be like the U.S., where you can do everything at the seat of your chair, and not have to leave the house, then switch lazy mode, gain weight, and all the slim tricks will be obese, then it's time to leave China for Brazil :(

Because their fries cannot stand a 15 minutes delivery!
As for KFC/MCD deliveries above rmb50 indeed. Now you can even spare your ass the 'little' exercise prior to getting your 1500 (bad) calories meal...

Benoist_Shanghai has mentioned the issue with the fries. As far as I know MCD is also worried about their burgers ... it will also not stand delivery.

Just had a look at the KFC menu - there's NO minimum order, but they charge a fee of 4 kuai.

Ordered McD's last night. Got fries & only 32 RMB total. Took an hour though, and had to nuke the food.

I mean.. if you are going to press the buttons on phone to have food delivered.. why not get something better? I know.. I know.. after watching 300 hours of mcdonald commercials over the course of your life.. its quite difficult to think of anything else when you are hungry.

If you need to make up the 50 then order a extra couple of large soft drinks. They will keep for ages. Back in melbourne our local pizza place would bring a half a dozen beers if you asked them nicely. natually they got a good tip for trouble. I have done the same here in Shenzhen.
Still in great moments of slackness I have been sitting outside Mama's pizza and rang them to get a beer sent out (this is when they are busy) the front

Its a great convenience, but my first time I had a bad experience. I live in Gubei and McDs arrived at my house 45 minutes later with a cooling off BigMac Meal. Yes I would have paid the 6RMB delivery for under 50RMB but it was cooling off and his excuse was he came from Xujiahui!!! WTF is up with the logistics? Gubei Carrefour McD is like two blocks away from me and opens 24/7 and I was just too tired to get it then walk home cuz I was wasted at 2 in the morning. I guess I should have just left him at the doorstep empty handed....was just too tired to rip his head off.

But you need to threaten them to deliver immediately. they told me that they need 45 mins, but after making it clear that i need it NOW, i got it after 15 mins =) call 4008 823 823

Macca will deliver for as little as a cheeseburger meal (maybe less...I don't know) with a 6RMB delivery charge. Delivery time is up to 1 hour, but I never had to wait more than 30 mins. I don't know about KFC minimum order though, all I know is that they only have original recipe chicken and no spicy one which is my fav. No chips because they get soft with the steam they say......can you believe it!!! KFC worrying about the quality of their product when doing home delivery....THIS IS CRAZY :D :D :D THEIR CELEBRITY CHEF DOESN"T WANT CHIPS TO BE SERVD SOFT!!!

Yes, McDonalds charge a 7 rmb delivery fee so I doubt they care how much or little you order, it's a different strategy than having a minimum charge. I like it in fact. I don't see why they can deliver fries while KFC can't. They should just let you choose whether or not you want soggy fries.
