DVD's you can't find

Postby SirFiddler » Tue Aug 30, 2005 11:26 am

I have got quite a big collection at home, of what I think are classics ( for me at least ) , and a few are missing .

If anyone has a copy of them here or knows where to get one in Shangers I'd be more than happy to treat you to drinks or swap against something else you can't find here

I am looking for "Thursday" , with The Punisher Thomas Jane. Movie about an ex drug dealer settling down until something goes very wrong.
You can't even get the original DVD any longer, I think the going price on ebay for an unopened one is around 3k US$

"Saturday the 14th"
"Waxworks"
"Return to Horror high"

With all the diamonds I've found here already I am sure they are out there somewhere...

So, anyone ?

Brought from Home on a quick trip

Kundun - no surprise
Withnail and I - maybe just too british
Killing Fields - you can get this now
I am always amazed at the DVD's I see here, so there aren't really any others
But why are there no more Malcolm in the Middle DVD's? They actually don't exist past season one. Very very weird

Great Movie

Postby Dartman » Thu Sep 01, 2005 2:23 am

Withnail and I.

What a classic sound track where they are driving up the motorway in that beat up old car. He then turns on the music and out blasts Jimi Hendrix 'All Along The Watchtower'. Just first class.

Has anyone got 'Brassed Off'? It is about a brass band during the miners strike.

Well worth a few free beers.

Sorry dartman, I don't think I've seen it here. I'll look around for you though, you never know! Which area ofShanghai are you based in? Which DVD place do you usually go to?

movie dummy here with a dumb question -

why are you looking for these two movies? the names sound weird. are they for self-healing?
To me, if life boils down to one thing, it is the choice between "take it" and "leave it"

The flowery costumes, the closeups on Olivier...its too damn gay.

Not that theres anything wrong with that...

Sorry to go off topic, but this is related. If any one has better luck tommorow, poetic justice, New Jack City, Menace II Society, Juice, do the right thing, or diary of a mad black woman and are willing to part with them, i'll pay 15 for 5s and 25 for 9s.

Haven't seen any of the others here though. I may have seen Boyz, but since you're not looking for that, it doesn't help. I don't know if Poetic Justice even got a DVD release in the UK! Strange since both star and director have pulling power.

Just checked for Poetic Justice on Bearshare, they have it. Bearshare has almost everything (no Brassed Off tho, sorry)

I did get it hear, just can't remember where. I think it was a random find with one of those guys along Shanxi lu.

As overpriced as Ka De is and as consistently inconsistent with their quality, they do have a great selection. Best of all it's in those books you can flip through.

I'd be glad to loan you the DVD if you like.

On the 2nd floor of the Chifeng Lu Metro station there is a DVD shop. They have Menace II Society from time to time. The owner (a guy about 35) speaks a good bit of English so you can ask him to find it for you if he doesn't have one in stock. I can't remember if it was 5 or 9.

If you visit torrentspy.com you'll probably be able to find some pretty obscure movies to download, otherwise there's http://members.chello.nl/~p.wiersema/list.html, which gives a list of all the bittorrent sites.
