Early mornin' gym

Postby heyitschili » Tue Feb 07, 2012 4:42 pm

Hey everybody,

I'm looking to join a gym but I want to get my workout done before work, not in the nasty mad rush after working hours. I have heard that the Ambassy Gym opens at 6 AM. Does anyone know any others that have similarly early opening hours? I'm in the French Con. but would be open to gyms there or around People's Square. If anyone has a recommendation I'd give you an internet high five.

I think many gym in Shanghai offers a discount membership rate if you only go in the morning before certain time.

It's quite small,. I guess it doesn't have much equipment as Terra which I used to be a member of but main reason I joined was cause it's nearby - 10min walk from home, so it's easy to do morning workouts.
Also very very clean and heaps of classes to attend and it doesn't get too crowded at all..

12months they quoted i think 8500??? can't remember.. then negotiated to 5000.. i wasn't as fuss with the prices cos my company reimburse gym fees~

Only tip is,.. negotiate and haggle. Don't go for quoted price.

I'm a member at One Wellness too. I go in the mornings before work, and at most, there's like 2-4 other people. I agree with Rezzie, very clean and good overall.

I use California Fitness. As noted above, opens at 6AM and closes at 12AM. On the few mornings that I have gone to workout, they were open promptly at 6AM. Facilities are clean and spacious and the selection of free weights and equipment is very good--best I have seen in Shanghai. There is, however, no pool.

Annual membership is (was as a of a few weeks ago) $3600.
