Been there a couple of times. It is a nice store but I would like to make the following points:
1. It is not very well organised. Books are all mixed up all over the place.
2. It has a strange collection of books. For example, it has many classics like Shakespeare and other garbage that is only read by high school students because it's compulsory reading. Some useless books like "Hungarian Phrase Book". Not really sure who would be interested this kind of stuff in Shanghai.
I do hope they get their act together and improve their book collection and organisation. It would be a shame to see it close because the city could do with a good bookshop cafe.
I DO agree that soem of their sense of organization must be via PinYin or stroke order or something bcause it makes no sense to me. But, I was still glad to see someone trying to make it work. Local ownership so its 50-50 in my book that they will make it. I think as they get more inventory in, things will get better. as it stands now, travel books downstairs front, reference books downnstairs back, kids section upstairs along with the sporadic collection also strewn everywhere upstairs. Newspapers and magazins=es at front counter.
Dear all,
really cannot believe the coincidence...i chanced upon this cafe few nites ago..unfortunately it was already closed...will go down one of these days..
BTW, anyone knows where can i get some decent english books or novels?
i am having severe Stephen King withdrawal symptoms, so much so i am rationing on the only one book i brought to SH - Wizards and Glasses.
