The visa agent didn't ask me any financial related questions for my new visa. I got a form for pickup next week.

I've never ever heard of proof of funds in Shanghai, on the other hand, extending your L visa in Beijing would get you in this kind of ****. having to show a bank account with an x amount of money (more than you'd think) on it. Which is crazy to begin with.

In Shanghai its easy, just passport pic and temp residence form.

As long as you don't change your visa type (L F or Z), you dont have to leave the country.

Normally an L visa extension will cost you 160 rmb (for most European passport holders). For UK its a bit more expensive and since they are the 'greatest country in the world', US Citizens have to pay 940 rmb.

Don't think of the grace period, it should only be used when there is really no other way but stay away from it. It's going to cost you big time and it will influence your future trips to China (if they still let you)

TIC do you know why it costs so much for US citizens to get a new visa? I mean 160 vs 940?!

China sets the visa price for each country roughly based on the price for Chinese Citizens to get a visa to that country. ie. It's f*cking expensive to get a US visa so China charges an equivalent price for US citizens to get a China visa. Simple!

Well, I remember my visit to the Chinese embassy in NY and a chart listed prices for its visas based on nationalities: US - $140, the rest of the world around $40 (?). With such a big discrepancy I figured they would at least provide an explanation. But my experiences at that embassy discouraged me from asking such question.

Hi, I have a double entry visa and my first 30 days will be up in about a week. Do I need to fly to Hong Kong again and back to use my second entry or can I simply go to the Entry & Exit bureau since I already have a visa for my next entry?

Would be great if anyone had info on this.

Thanks

Yeah, remember a long time ago in Turkey , we all paid like 5 euro's for visa fees as soon as we got out of the plane. Our american friend had to pay 100 dollars.... Its the same in a lot fo other countried.guess it wont change any time soon.

Antony, how long are you looking to stay afterwards? You could just extend the visa (*read renew) the visa here and get a 30 day extension, your double entry will no longer be valid anymore afterwards. If you fly to HK now and 'use' your second entry you basically get the same thing.

There's an entry-exit place in putou district. I've been three times, never had to wait more than 5 minutes, literally. Because it is quite new an completely unknown among expats where it is (even taxi drivers find it confusing to drive there).

^Would be good to know our options when it comes to renewing our RP. Driving all the way to PuDong is a bit of a hassle.

I'm a little confused.I have got an F-visa now, a 3-month one that I applied for in the Netherlands with a letter from my company here in Suzhou to prove that I'll be working here. I will need to extend the visa soon, for another 3 months because the internship is a little over 5 months. My original plan was to go to HK to do this, but now it seems there are other ways. Could the Entry and Exit Bureau or http://www.visainchina.com help me in any way? Or can F-visas only be extended for a month if you stay inside China? Thanks a lot!

Re: Visa F single entry but need to travel out of China

Postby lilenna » Mon Aug 15, 2011 11:02 am

Hi,

I'm currently on a F visa single entry for a 6-month internship. My visa is valid 180 days and expires at the beginning of December (according to the end date of my internship, as mentioned in my invitation letter).
I need to travel out of the country (for personal reasons) in October. So I'm wondering what I should do regarding my visa.

Should I go to the Entry & Exit Bureau and just ask for another F visa single entry? If so when would be the best time to apply (is one month before my travel date too early?).
But then I heard that they give only 30 days extensions. Is that true? If so, it would be a problem since my internship lasts more than 2 months after my application for a new visa.

Should I just leave China on my current and apply for a new visa in my country (maybe not an option, as I'm there for a very short time).

What is the best to proceed considering my situation?

Thank you for your help and advice :)

I don't know the details, but I just wanted to let everyone know that apparently the rules have changed quite a bit recently. All I know is the company I am currently doing an internship at has extended my F-visa with 90 days without me having to leave the country at all. All they needed was a digital picture and my passport. They started working on it about a week ago and extended the visa that I had (that expired on August 24) with 90 days which means I can now stay till November 9. Actually, the only thing I do know, is that they start counting the 90 days from application rather than leaving/returning to the country now which is why mine is only valid till November 9 even though I only received it back today. Anyway, hope you're as lucky as I am because this is pretty f*cking convenient :)

Exit from Shanghai port question

Postby KGirl » Mon Feb 13, 2012 10:45 am

I am planning on taking a cargo freighter out of Shanghai in April. I am currently in China on an "L" visa. The tour company said I needed an "F" or "G" visa to exit China, that the "L" visa was not valid for exiting the country (I have been on 1-year multiple entry tourist visas for 2 years now). Do you know anything about this?

hi can use some help here.

i am a taiwan citizen with US green card. i came in china with my 'travel visa' from the US and now i am trying to get my residence/work permit and they are asking that i needed to come into the country with my taiwan compatriot permit (tai bao zen or TBZ) instead of my 'travel visa.' And they need me to leave the country to either taiwan or Hk to come back in TBZ. is this necessary? If so, what is the best site to get train tickets to Shanghai->shenzen->HK and anyone with experience?

I am going to the entry/exit bureau on friday again to sort things out. THANKS in ADVANCE!.

Thanks.

Hi!

I haven't scoured around the forums so I'm not sure if my concern had been raised before.

Anyhoo, I have a Z visa type and I will be going back to my country on 2nd week of May (for good) and so my employer have to cancel my working permit (my visa will expire on 2nd week of September 2012). My question is, is there a way, possibility that I can leave the next day after my resignation or I have to extend my stay just to cancel my visa? My employer has informed me that instead of leaving on May 10th, I have to extend until May 23rd for this procedure. :(

my employer said that's how it is and both of us will face the consequence if I just leave. I mean, why would they hold me here if I want to leave, they can cancel my visa without physically stamping passport? They can just update their records. my employer is giving me a hard time, all I want is to just leave.

I just applied for another entry yesterday (friday). I have a couple of questions.

1. They said I can pick it up next friday (April 27th), but I have a flight later that day, so if I arrive very early (to wait in line), will they have it available asap (like around 9 am)?

2. Can we pay in cash?
