Experience with these real estate agents - good or bad?

Postby aaaight » Sun Jan 24, 2010 8:46 pm

Hi there,

I will move to Shanghai next month and have received offers from several agents. Can anyone recommend any of these agents, any bad experiences?

- Maxview Realty (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (Shirley Li) (www.maxviewrealty.com)
- Shanghai Phoenix Property Agency (Eric Wang) (www.shanghai-realty.com)
- HomeChannel (Vivien) (www.HomeChannel.com.cn)
- Citic Realty (Felicia Chen) (www.citic-realty.com)
- Jessica Real Estate (Lily) (www.jessicarealtyconsult.com)

Many thanks!

The only thing I would say is, you don't necessarily get better service by using a bunch of agents. Probably more likely to get the reverse.

Out of those five options, I'd go with Phoenix..

Why would you get the reverse??? Do they give up?

There are always exceptions but my experience two years ago was the first agent (provided by employer) only showed one or two properties a day. The second agent I had contacted on my own showed me properties till I dropped and modified what she showed based on my reactions.

BTW, we used Metropolis and were very happy.

It does not take long for an agent to find out there is a bunch working for you, and it is human nature to not bother then.

Better to have say, TWO, GOOD agents, and they will compete.

Thanks much for your advice, especially to Tokyocat and dincer80 (sent you a PM just now, dincer80).
@monalisalee: I had the same thought, that's why I wanted to narrow down the list to 2 or three agents. As we only have few days to look for apartments, we would like to avoid wasting time with the wrong ones..
