The stationery market is located at Guo Qing Road, near Suzhou River and Middle Xizhang Road. Several buildings sell various stationery and related things, imported or local products. They mainly wholesale, but you can buy some samples as well.

There is not really a difference. Fabric market is basically where you can get all sorts of (fake) clothes but also clothes and suits tailor made. Most fabric markets have a fake market attached to it, and the other way around.

Fake market can provide you with everything basically, clothes, dvd's, electronics, art, souvenirs, anything basically. And they usually have tailor booths as well so its kinda fake and fabric market alltogether. This counts for most of these markets around shanghai

For tshirts and stuff like that, I'd say the S&t museum. In my eyes its bigger than the Nanpu bridge one (you mean lujiabang road one right?) plus its more casual clothes. toys and souvenirs.

Nanpu one is mainly tailors with some casual ..

If you're tired of the crowds and haggling at the market, try shopping online with bilingual personal shopping agents. PM for more information.

Here is such an agent. (^_^)

We focus on bespoke shirt, suit, coat, uniforms, etc.
James 100% combed cotton for shirts, Natsun 100% worsted wool for suits. ( Natsun wool suiting fabric is the best one made in China, and we are their agent in Shanghai. We wholesale & retail the Natsun fabric to the main fabric markets in SHA. )

I went to booth 329 (3rd floor 3F section I believe) a couple times... they are awesome at copying a shirt you already have (brought one of my boyfriends with a couple changes needed and it was perfect), done within 4 days and packed like a shirt bought in a store!

Expect about 100rmb per shirt!

Sure do. Seems like all the bags I've bought in the last two years have just fallen apart the first time they are used. Quality has really declined and can't withstand the airline baggage handlers. I'm talking wheels falling off and handles breaking. If you have to buy a bag bargin hard like it's a throw away thing.

Hello, i'm hoping someone can help me with the following:

In the summer im gonna visit Shanghai, and i was looking to buy some goodies on the fake market (just for fun).
Now if i understand correctly there are 2 main places:

- Nanjing road
- Yatai Xinyang Fashion and Gift Market (under science museum?)

Are there any other?

Also, which market do you people recommend me? i know there is no such thing as a quality fake, but is there a difference between these two places as far as quality goes?

Thanks

Depending from where you travel, but in general, i get the impression that these days they handle passengers suitcases terribly bad at airports.

There are all kinds of qualirty level suitcases at the fake market. I bought a fake one at Science&Technology subway station. Is still very healthy after one year taking an airplane every other day.
The real Samsonite I bought in Dusseldorf was broken after only 3 months...
So it all depends.

Thank you for everyone's contribution.

Just wondering if anyone knew where I could pick up some good fabrics to take in to the markets for tailoring? I don't like their cottons and would like something a little higher quality -- any happy medium between the super-cheap Fabric Market cotton and fine Egyptian blend?

Anelka jersey

http://s.taobao.com/search?q=anelka&com ... z_20120508

This is the kind of stuff that Taobao was made for - if you haven't used Taobao yet, then search this site for several guides.
