Shanghai to Sydney is cheaper than Shanghai Hong Kong Sydney usually. There was a special on this month which was very good.

Try a travel website I suppose to confirm your choices.

Qantas is now (September 19 in the Shanghai Daily) offering return trips, SH to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide for 4,980 RMB + taxes and fuel surcharges. Ramps up to about 6,500 RMB. Get in, book and pay NOW.

I did the trip in March this year, SH-MEL then down to Hobart with Virgin for $150 on that trip. Return was from SYD - PVG, and phone service from Qantas was so good that I recommended the Qantas service chap for a Customer Service award. I think he'll get it.
